Well, at least you're honest about your intentions. You didn't come here to share on an equal basis, but to "teach," but not wanting any disagreement. This seems to be the attitude of a lot of religious people. Don't you see anything wrong with that picture? If you don't want disagreement, then why talk? If people want to be "taught," believe me, they'll find the teacher they want.

?I could not have escaped the WTS and kept my sanity as I have over the last 8 months if it were not for this board and for the wonderful, caring people here who have helped me.

Complete strangers who have helped me either by direct comments to me, by calling me on the phone, emailing me, or just writing out their thoughts on a completely unrelated topic.

And yes, some of these people have been out of the bOrg for years, maybe even decades.

But you know what?

They still come here to help people like me.

These people come here to help others like me who are just waking up to the truth about the g*damn Troof. To help people like me who are having their very lives ripped into pieces right before their eyes because of this hateful cult.

And you know why they help?

If you think it?s because they only like misery and have no lives outside of this board?

?then you are only embarrassing yourself and more clueless than I could have ever imagined.

You might as well tell a surgeon who gets involved with helping burn victims recover that he is only involved because he likes the gore aspect of the job.

That a doctor?s involvement has nothing to do with his love for people.

Did you ever think that, just maybe, HE became a doctor because HE knew of others he loved suffer the pain of being a burn victim, and now he wants to help others???

Some people accuse a person of taking up the career as a doctor for the money, and not the love of people.

What motivation do others have to come here and share their UNPAID time in helping complete strangers besides the fact that they genuinely want to help people?

Some never-been-JW's do understand the need for a place like this, and that it is more than a complaint board.

but I don't go walking into support groups for rape victims telling them to get over it and stop dwelling on the negative.

Winston -- I couldn't agree more! But some people think that just by going up to an abused person and saying "cheer up", that they will. Some people will never understand, and this site is not for them.
