I could say there is a plethora of great, intelligent, interesting, attractive, gorgeous, benificent, witty, slightly pervers, and respectively good women here...Texas Intelligencia style..

I agree, Sassy. I think it's wonderful to see women, who were once subjugated by the WTBTS, continue to bloom more everyday into the vibrant, lovely, intelligent creatures that the one who made us intended for us to be. This goes from our Jr. gals under 18 right up to our dear Mouthy.

It's also wonderful, that for the most part, JWD men treat us with respect and dignity. I have read some dissappointing things from them on occasion ( and not just from some of the younger guys) but for the most part JWD men treat us as equals and not subjects.

copsec , freelife and Maverick, it can be nice to come here for friendships without being hit on constantly..

My experience with the JW boards has been that at least for the brothers, they were inundated with attempts by the women.. it was embarrasing sometimes the way they followed the brothers around the board.. And yes I agree LittleToe that flirting does still go on here... I am guilty myself of it from time to time.. but nothing like happened there.

I like how blondie put it, yes there are more goals.. more opportunities for those outside the JW box.. those who are more than as smurfette said have the:

desperate "must find man and make babies" syndrome

Thanks for the Helen Reddy tune wednesday. Indeed as xJWs or fading JWs we can be a real woman.. can be something without having a man to make us something. I think that is why for me a man is a plus, not a necessesity.

as for your first statement xjw_b12.. there are indeed those gay here on the board male and female.. but that really doesn't have to be part of the equation as to why there is little desperation here.. they could be desperate too... but I dont' see it..

Sassy, I know what you meant when you were posting about desperate women on the JW boards. One brother would tell me that some sisters would 'band together' and try to get him to go out with the sister that had the hots for him.

Sisters on the JW boards who were not fit/active/healthy/attractive were constantly starting thread topics that complained that brothers were not looking at their inner person. Its hard to make a 21 year old brother who looks like Atlas want to go out with a 30 year old sister who is 100lbs overweight, unemployed, complaining, but heck she is a former pioneer who quit for health reasons. The sisters didn't seem to understand that the brothers were just men...... looks don't keep a man but they attract one. And you can't make men want what they don't want. Some men want a more voluptuous woman and you sure can't make him look at a skinny one, some people prefer one race over another, etc.... just cuz people have preferences didn't make them 'unspiritual' but thats what the sisters always implied.

Sisters often complain that the brothers are interested in looks first. I don't see those type of ranting posts here.

Sal, it's funny but things were much more shallow in the dubs. I noticed some of the ugliest blokes getting pretty little trophy wives so long as they had a job or were the sons of elders.

My dad (an elder) even went so far as to encourage me to come back to the dubs because I would easily pull a good looking wife

That's it, isn't it? I mean, as dubs, who was every allowed to grow and discover who they really are? I'm glad I never married - being stuck with an elder hubbie is my definition of hell on earth. Now we can explore our own interests and read what we want and do what we want - ain't it great !
