I have not gone since 1996. My brother wants to go and partake and wants me to come along. I'm still mulling it over. He wants to stick it to our mother and embarrass her the same way she embarrassed us last year at his wedding. I doubt I will go because it will just create a bunch of drama that I don't want. I would have to vote no.

I haven't been to a memorial since 1996. Every year since then, the same shit happens.
Mom: The memorial is on xxx. Do you want to come?
Me: If I go, I'm going to partake
Mom: You know better than that!!Who the hell wants to go to a place where crackers & wine are passed to nobody? The only person I ever saw partake was an inactive person that my mother brought.
I think about 20 of us heathen apostate bastards, should get all fancied up and go to ONE hall and partake of the emblems. One of us will have to be the camera -man to get the mugshots of the flabergasted faces, and the attendents shit'in their pants.
I'd love to do that! We'd all sit in the same row, chow & guzzle, the last couple of people in the row can get mad that we didn't leave them any, then pass the empty plate & glass to the attendant. Unfortunately, Winnipeg has a slim apostate population.

Why not dress up in a red one-piece devil suit complete with that fancy stick he has! Just walk in all nonchalant, and be friendly with everyone.
When the "emblems" get passed to you, throw them in your face and scream "Mommy, I hate cookies!!!" and convulse on the floor. After 5 minutes, get up, dust yourself off, remove your devil suit, leaving you buck naked, and scream "I have been reborn!!! I have been reborn!!!!", running naked in circles around the kingdumb hall.
Finally, you run out the door never to return....

Yes. I'm trying to see how that's going to work with my wife and mother. We haven't discussed it yet but I see no issue with my wife but my mother is a different matter. I don't want her to have another stroke but I really don't want to go to it.

Did your mom have a real stroke or did you mean she would be "shocked" by your not attending the memorial?

P.S... The first one we missed... They all (elders)seemed to chase after my husband and I. They wouldn't seem to leave us alone. ... But I'm sure that is not the case with everyone.
