Many actually LOSE weight when the suffer emotionally.

Actually I could kind of say that.. if you count the weight of hair .. I have lost over half the hair on my head since July. Fortunately I am brunette and started with thick hair so a little thinning was ok.. but been working on the stopping of this trend fast before I need to go buy Rogaine or something..

Field service helps burn the calories. Since leaving the JW's what have you replaced field service with? Probably the the TV and the computer.

Damn Neon, losing 100lbs is no small feat!

And we are proud for you.

I am 6'0" and weighed 185 in the borg with a slight pot belly. Now, on the Atkins and a whole new way of life and thinking, I'm at 163lbs and in fighting trim.

Gaining weight is normal with age. Lack of exercise, but mostly eating more will make you gain weight. It's hard to lose weight when a person eats more than he should. You know that if you would eat less you would lose weight, so the problem is not there. You want to gain controle and eat less, but probably you can't. Something inside of you is telling you to eat alot. Eating is also a habit. I gained 10 lbs in the last 5 years. It's maybe not much, but still I was wondering why? I've been eating more, that's why. Now why have I been eating more? That's what I'm asking myself.

In my case, these 10 additional pounds were good for me, because I was slim, and now I'm normal for my height.

The bottom line is you have to eat less to lose weight. It's simple, but hard to do. I think that a person should not change what he eats, but the amount of what he eats. Personally I noticed that eating desserts made me gain weight. Try skipping desserts for a couple of weeks, and you will lose weight, it's guaranteed.

Depression, like you say, makes you eat more. Try not eating as much for only 2 or 3 days, and when you see that you lost 3 or 4 pounds, it will make you feel better. You will be less depressed and more proud of yourself. A pattern might set in, and if you keep on, and then, you're on a winning streak...

I started gaining when I moved away from the KH and stopped all meetings. I am now loosing it slowly and am about 20lbs from my goal.

    I know that I won't have the body I had when I graduated HS-6' 1", 165lbs and 28 1/2" waiste. --Sigh.

I gained 70 pounds when I became a JW. Now that I'm out I lost 30 pounds since March. I've plateaued there, so I think I need to get my butt back to the gym and lose some more weight!

If you're not going door to door anymore and have not increased physical activity in other areas you tend to gain weight.

I dunno...the JW's I see going from door to door nowadays don't look like they're burning very many calories...certainly not as many as they're putting on at the donut shop...

Thanks. Still got a long way to go, though - as I said, I was waaaay overweight. One of my tricks is eating lunches at SubWay, since their 6" roast beef, ham and turkey subs have only 5 FlexPoints each (as long as you omit the cheese and mayonnaise) - so I figure I might have a shot at Jared's job when I get done.
