I mixed some acetone and nitric acid together once. That could have turned out much worse than it did.

I drive a car most days and I am overweight. That's the extent of my life threatening activities. I try not to drive in a way that will endanger the rest of the population, but I understand that some people's need for adrenaline means thay can't extend the courtesy back. Ho hum.

When you said "dangerous" did you mean stuff that can hurt or kill you, or did you mean safe and controlled situations engineered to give an adrenaline rush?

    Edited to remove double negative.

Nope, no bungie jumping for this kid...most dangerous thing I've ever done? Hands down it had to be the time when, in an arguement with my wife, I said, something to the nature of the reason she was so crabby was because she needed some... and then after her informing me that I'd never get it from her again I came up with..."doesn't matter, I had you"

That was probably the single most dangerous thing I ever did.

I jumped out of a plane 2 miles high and fell for about 1 minute before the parachute finally opened....

Most dangerous has to be jumping out of a perfectly good plane, although it was for charity, and there was this one time when a freidn took me on his new motorbike round the bypass in Swindon and pointed frantically at the speedo for me to look as we were doing over 150. I think I shat myself more than the skydiving

hehehe, I just responed in the "What would you do if..." thread, and my answer was bungie jumping. So no I havent done bungie jumping. However, the most dangerous thing Ive ever done has to be when I nearly knocked over a 30 foot high pallet of softdrink. It happened at work when my electric pallet jack was trapped between a forklift and the high pallets of softdrink. Foolishly, I went full speed ahead inbetween the "little gap" I had and nearly killed myself, and 1 other person. Fortunately, it only made it as far as the leaning tower of pisa, then rocked back and forth for about a minute or so. Insane. I still have my job.

    Hmmm... the most dangerous thing...

Had to be when I was much younger - and more foolish than I am now... last century...

I worked at a radio station - 'transmitter watch' - is what they called it. Pretty dull... I had to monitor the meters and log the readings every two hours or so.

There was a fella that they had hired to repaint the towers (we had a 5 tower array), Aviation Orange and White.

The fella was a bit of a character, which fit with the type of job that he had - painting towers (or replacing the bulbs) from hundreds of feet up.

I asked him one morning after I got off work "What's it like from way up there?"

He stammered and stuttered for a bit, and then replied, "You wanna go up and see?"

    "Sure!", I replied.

He gave me basic directions on how to climb - not to release one grip until the other was firmly grasped... we would climb up two-thirds of the tower inside, and then have to 'swing out' to the outside to finish the climb... etc.

I went up with him all the way to the top where I got out my camera and I took pictures - of the surrounding scenery, and then I took a picture of him and he took a picture of me.

The tower was 415 feet tall. It gently swayed in the breeze - guyed securely to the ground.

Afterwards, I climbed back down to the ground.

I would NEVER do anything like that again.

    Regards,

    Jim TX

    In no particular order:

    1. Whitewater rafted on the Ganges

    2. Whitewater rafted on the Nile

    3. Bungee jumped into the Nile.

    4. Went to Benin for the Christmas Day 2003 Cotonou plane crash to help in the recovery effort.

    5. Smoke. (still do)
