    Type O, Rh-negative, married to a Type A (I think), Rh-positive...

And mother of 2 healthy kids born when I was a hardline dub and refused RhoGam! And the doctors let me get away with it!

Turns out there's another factor Du or something -- I'm Du-positive, but if I'd been Du-negative the kids would've been up sh*t creek.

I hope to god the doctors would have got court orders. I kinda think they would have, even though my OB during my 2nd pregnancy said she would have let me die if I'd insisted.

A negative I had that shot after my second child was born

Horrible things can happen to the poor baby ,I think I read a long time ago in the awake a doctor said you should get the shot if you are A-

I have RH negative blood... A neg. I've been told this type is the second rarest to AB negative. I had 3 live births, interspersed with 3 miscarriages, before they came out with the Rhogam shots which prevent RH negative mothers from aborting fetuses with incompatible blood types.

People with O Rh Negative blood are considered universal donors because patients of all blood types can receive O Rh Negative blood!

    That's me - a universal donor.

But my ex (and father of my children) is A+

No problems with first pregnancy but a real scare with the second. As advised by the elders I refused Rhogam after the first.

Second child had 3 strikes against her after she was born

    • RH incompatibility
    • A/O blood incompatibility and
    • 1 month premature

A blod test came back saying the bilirubin levels were not good and they wanted to move her to the children's hospital and give her blood. You won't believe how fast the elders got there or how long they stayed!!! The doctors decided to do another test and the levels came back within a normal range. What a fright! That just might have been the end of me if the elders had pushed the no blood thing and I know my husband would have followed the line.

What a horrible thing to put people through for a "princile" they keep changing

A- married to O+. Never had any problems. Out of 4 children, #3, a daughter, is A- married to another A-, so they won't have to worry about any type of incompatibility.

They came out with the Rhogam shots when I was pregnant with #4, of course, like a good little dub I didn't take it, but we already had plans for my unbelieving husband to have a vasectomy.

Now I am a blood donor - my final rebellion against the bOrg. As I understand it, they are running short of women who never had the Rhogam shot, and if I have it right, they need us to make the Rhogam. I'm not quite clear on this, so I should probably look into it.

Well, the most common, actually...you can view that on Concerned Mama's post.

O+ is the most common, followed by these:

    A+, B+, O-, A-, AB+, B-, AB-

If you are RH Positive, you can receive both RH + and rh -, safely (of your type, or Type O).

If you are rh negative, you can only receive rh negative, and of course, safely be given o negative.

But of course, type to type is best.

I'll see if I can find that graph. I'll post it here, when I locate it.

Also, I should find Flying High Now's post, it's worthy of a second read.
