Do You Think We Are Hurting The Organization By What We Do Here?

"HERE?" - as opposed to other sites? Who knows. I think people tend to lurk a little before posting....and hopefully, this place represents a kinda safe enviroment for them to get their feet wet.
I've read it argued that there's no good threads over here anymore - that it's fluff & "KH" driven. Not so! There's been some great threads here & fluff, even within the last week.
There are other sites who offer different atmospheres which might suit some posters. Great!
May we all grow with jw's & xjw's - enabling ourselves to choose to stay or leave, here, other places & the WT. And may we all learn to be "civil" with each other - as we most likely would be in "Real Life."
YES! The internet is hurting the WTBTS & helping thousands (maybe millions) of Jehovah's Witnesses learn The Truth about the cult they belong to.....like we used to be.
Or, unpaid salespersons of the WTBTS PUBLISHING Corporation.

I think this site is a light in the darkness for people who are still in the borg, but who have serious doubts about it. Just reading how some of the new ones have found us on the internet and then lurked for awhile testing the waters to see what us terrible "apostates" are all about..........I think this site is saving lives!

Without question we are hurting the WTS by doing what we are here, by exposing the real truth. In my opinion, the internet will be the biggest factor by far of why people don't become witnesses, or leave.

If we weren't hurting them by what we are, in effect, publishing here (and on the rest of the 'net), do you really think the WTS would be putting out such stern warnings to JWs to "Beware the Voice of Strangers on the Internet"?

In praise of the "Fluff" threads: these threads show JW lurkers that there is life outside the narrow confines of the WTBTS. "Fluff" threads show that it's wonderful to have other interests and opinions about "worldly" things.
When you are inside the WTBTS the governing body makes you feel like you must be uniform and comform to their idea of what you should be. You gradually lose your individuality. This makes even the most cheerful witness miserable.
How alluring it is to come upon your brothers and sisters getting to talk about their individual interests, interests other than the narrow focus of the org. How inticing it is to see people actually breathing and feeling the sunlight and stretching their legs outside the cramped and narrow society these decrepit old men have built.
"Fluff" threads are more than fluff. How so? They show that we are finding our individuality again!
The WTBTS believes individuality is an evil thing. They know individuality can ruin their solidarity. They want us on a short leash, jumping to every snap of their whip. Instead those of us who are leaving or gone are pursuing other interests.
In a sense we can liken this site to the differing languages at The Tower of Babel. The WTBTS wants to keep us all in one place building a tower to the heavens. This site gives us the differing languages of our own individuality. We are spreading out and leaving the Watch-Tower of Babel behind.
Praises to the "Fluff" threads. They hold a lot more power than many realize.

People make a big issue about fluff as though it's "beneath them". Maybe they wrote some good essays in the past about doctrine or teachings and think that's the thing to convince people to leave.
I think they're wrong.
Just as people don't join the WTS because of the doctrine but instead for personal / social reasons, I think they leave for the same reasons.
Most JWs don't actually know and couldn't tell you what the current teachings and beliefs where with any degree of accuracy.
What people need to leave is help and support and friendship. When they have left then they may read the essays and books to reassure themselves that they have done the right thing but I think what convinces them to leave is usually the way people have been treated and the realisation that it's not just them, they are not alone and there are people who have and are going through it themselves and can share the pain and the joy of leaving.
Let's hear it for fluff and friendship ! Don't underestimate their power to undermine the watchtower walls.
