... of course, why not start going on about Clinton !

Last time I checked he wasn't running

Surely you jest.... he and Hillary are ALWAYS running.

Bious, NPR is NOT a balanced source of news...it's quite left of center. C-SPAN...isn't really a news channel.

Yeru - 1st - I disagree (what a surprise!) with your characterization of NPR. 2ndly, re: cSpan, my point exactly ... it is an information channel by which we can form opinions as opposed to 'news' channels which spin tiny pieces of information.

Simon - I agree, can we focus on 2004?

I'm starting to become conditioned to feel the vomit reflex whenever I see Yeru's militarily smug avatar.

Your "Anybody but Bush" shows exactly what the problem is, you're out of any ideas of your own and you can only oppose someone who believes in action rather than waffling.

Um...Yeru: How about, I find it impossible to conceive of someone who could wreck America more completely than the Bush team has done. The "Anybody but Bush" feeling is not about wanting to tear down a great guy. It's about wanting to prevent America from being completely destroyed.

Geez, a little harsh, don't you think.... I like Yeru, and appreciate our military. Now I'll feel a little 'conditioned' myself when I see your avatar. Lighten up... everyone's allowed an opinion without people getting personal.

I'll take that to mean you're commenting about Clinton's "Pinnocchio" character (or maybe his nose).

I guess that was a bit uncalled for. I certainly don't mean to impinge upon anyone's right to have or express an opinion. That dude in the avatar really does seem smug, though. Maybe it's association to other experiences. I apologize.

Woman Denies Rumors of Kerry Affair

By MATTHEW ROSENBERG, Associated Press Writer
    February 16, 2004

NAIROBI, Kenya - A woman who has been the subject of rumors linking her to Sen. John Kerry denied Monday that she ever had an affair with the Democratic presidential candidate.

Breaking her silence four days after the allegations surfaced on the Internet, Alexandra Polier issued a statement to The Associated Press, saying, "I have never had a relationship with Senator Kerry, and the rumors in the press are completely false."

Kerry already has denied reports that he had an extramarital affair. On Monday, his campaign said he would have no further comment.

Polier's statement was released to the AP in Nairobi, where the 27-year-old freelance journalist is visiting the parents of her fiance, Yaron Schwartzman, an Israeli who was raised in Kenya. She previously worked as an editorial assistant for the AP in New York.

"Whoever is spreading these rumors and allegations does not know me," Polier said, appealing to the media to respect her privacy and the privacy of her fiance and his family.

Polier also took issue with reports that referred to her as a former Kerry intern.

"I never interned or worked for John Kerry," she told AP over the phone.

In a separate statement, Polier's parents, Terry and Donna Polier of Malvern, Pa., dismissed the "completely false and unsubstantiated" allegations about their daughter.

"We love and support her 100 percent and these unfounded rumors are hurtful to our entire family," the statement said. "We appreciate the way Senator Kerry has handled the situation, and intend on voting for him for president of the United States."

The statement did not address purported quotes by Polier's parents in the British tabloid The Sun that were harshly critical of Kerry.

Kerry has won 14 of 16 Democratic primaries and caucuses, and is expected to be the Democratic challenger to President Bush in November.

Rumors of a relationship between Kerry and Polier first appeared Thursday on the Internet and were picked up by newspapers in several countries outside the United States. Few U.S. publications printed her name, however.

Asked Friday about the reports, Kerry told reporters: "I just deny it categorically. It's rumor. It's untrue. And that's the last time I intend" to respond to questions about it.

Regarding her silence until now, Polier said, "Because these stories were false, I assumed the media would ignore them. It seems that efforts to peddle these lies continue, so I feel compelled to address them."

By Monday, reporters and photographers were camped outside the Schwartzmans' Nairobi home, and at one point pursued the car of Yaron's mother, Hannah Schwartzman, as she left the walled compound.

Polier and Yaron Schwartzman met at Columbia University. They arrived in Kenya last October.

Polier graduated from Clark University in Worcester, Mass., in 1999. She received her master's in journalism from Columbia in 2003.

    Kerry's slept around...so what?

No, Monicagate wasn't about sex...It was about trapping Clinton but delving into every part of his personal life until they they finally found something that he sorta lied about.

Yes, he did sorta lie...that's wrong...but so was claiming the lie was important when the questioning of it itself was completely irrelevant. The very definition of putting the cart before the horse.

I just hope Kerry tells the next Ken Starr to piss up a rope.

Actually, Clinton didn't "sorta lie" he committed perjury...when the cheif law enforcement official in the nation commits perjury there's a problem. If Kerry had cheated, or if he did, it matters to some of us who believe in character. I flirt a lot but have NEVER cheated on my wife. If someone will cheat on their spouse..screwing me over won't bother them at all.

As to my avatar, it started out as just my picture, the flag and the smiley were added by others on this board as a gift to me...I like it. If I appear smug perhaps it's because... "no one is more professional than I, I am a NonCommissioned Officer, a leader of soldiers...." In other words, I'm good at what I do.

Another question for you...how is Bush "destroying" America? Is it by making it safe again? Is it by creating an enviroment for the strongest economic growth in 20 years? Is it by showing the terrorists that we no longer view terrorism as a matter of law enforcement...but view it as the terrorists themselves do...a war...and we are both willing and able to take the war to them? How exactly has he destroyed America...and better yet...what is the Democratic plan for continued economic growth, and the safety and security of America? Now I will agree that this prescription drug benefit is a budget buster...I don't like it...but it's not destroying america.

Clinton is brought up because everyone wants to say "Bush lied" (though now it's changed to "misdirected") IF that's true, then Clinton also lied (or misdirected) because he said the same thing about Iraq as Bush has...in fact, so has Kerry.

Kerry's other problem...he admitted to committing war crimes in Vietnam....on Meet the Press...back in 1970. Do we want a war criminal as President? Or was he exaggerating? Did he really WITNESS ears and heads being cut off, or is that hear say from the "Winter Soldier Project?" Kerry has voted against almost every major weapons program out there...including the weapons programs that are right now saving american lives in war. He wants to raise taxes...he wants to once again go back to the failed policy of treating terrorism as a criminal justice problem rather than a military one. Nope, it's Bush for me.
