When I saw Braveheart and saw how Gibson portrayed the death of William Wallace and how emotional he made the end of that movie I thought then, if he was to make a movie about the life and death of Jesus(as based on the Bible), he could make it so much more powerful than he did Braveheart. Though Braveheart was historically inaccurate it didn't change the depth of the main character and how Gibson wanted you to feel about him and what he went through.

All that being said, I still think it's just another book being made into a movie. The director/screen writer can adapt it however they see fit in whatever way they interpret the writer's story. Movies never do the book justice and often take poetic license in order to make it stylish or popular to the main stream.

Just a side note for those who may be struggling with the cross vs stake issue.

Matthew 27:37 reads that the charges of Jesus being King of the Jews was posted "above his head" If it was above his hands on a stake it would not read "above his head"

John 20:25 has Thomas saying, " Unless I see in his hands the print of the nails (plural) and stick my finger into the print of the nails (plural) and stick my hand into his side, I will certainly not believe."

    Simplistic true. But valid nonetheless.

For those into the deeper symbolism and hidden things in scripture, understanding the "great tribulation" and it's interpretation in line with Daniel is related to the "Passion" of Christ.

Passover Seder is held on the first day of Unfermented Cakes, Nisan 14, that same night they left Egypt, Nisan 15th. That's because the official date back then changed at Midnight, a carryover from the Egyptians who began their day at Midnight. At any rate, Christ did not die the same day he was arrested, Saturday, Nisan 15, but on Thursday Nisan 20th. Thus his "Passion" is more days than what Christendom and JWs recognize.

In that regard, though, Christ the "anointed one" in prophecy is substituted for the nation of Israel sometimes, the natural Jews. Thus the precise timetable of the passion, from arrest ealy on Nisan 15 until his resurrection early on Nisan 23rd (Sunday early morning) is the specific timetable relating to the "great tribulation" (the HOLOCAUST) during the last days AND the destruction of Jerusalem in 70CE. The binding factor is when Jerusalem is surrounded by encamped armies. This was fulled in 70 CE but depicted when Jesus was surrounded in the garden of Gethsemane. The modern fulfillment is when atypical modern-day "Judea" represented the resettled Jews in Eastern Europe, with by far the largest concentration of Jews in Warsaw, Poland, which became anti-typical "Jerusalem". Of note in 1939 Hitler's special artilery literally surrounded Warsaw and bombarded it before capturing the city. After a brief period of time, the Jews were separated into the walled ghettos and then the ghettos were liquidated.

Chronology: The chronology connected with this is that the "messiah" is "cut off" after 62 weeks. These 62 weeks are part of 490 years, 70 weeks. These 70-week periods are counted from 36CE which ended the 70th week when Jesus first appeared. To arrive at our day there are 4 more 70-week periods of 490 years, 1960 years. Add that to 1960 to get 1996CE, thus the 70 weeks for the modern "great tribulation" would end in 1996 but begin in 1506BCE. But the great tribulation would not begin until after 62 years, 434 years. Add 434 years to 1506 and you get 1940. Jesus' Passion parallels the time of Jesus' arrest until his resurrection and that parallels the events of the Holocaust. Here is a loose comparison.

This is broken up in half days so that the comparison works better. The Jewish year began in the fall. So we'll use late 1939 for when the invasion of Hitler took place to match the begining of the 7.5 days of Christ's passion.

Nisan 15 1939 - Christ arrested, surrounded by army, Hitler surrounds Warsaw. This is the "disgusting thing" that will cause desolation.

Nisan 15 1940 Jews can escape to mountains immediately after capture before ghettos set up.

Nisan 16 1940 "HOLOCAUST" begins.... Witnesses imprisoned, etc.

Nisan 16 1941 Christ in prison under Herod

    Nisan 17 1942 " ; Holocaust continues

    Nisan 17 1942 " : Holocaust continues

    Nisan 18 1943 " ; Holocaust continues

    Nisan 18 1943 " : Holocaust continues

    Nisan 19 1944 " : Holocaust continues

Nisan 19 1944 Noon - Christ's final trial, Christ impaled at 9PM that night

Nisan 20 1945 Christ still on torture stake all night.

Nisan 20 1945 At Noon it becomes dark and Christ dies. HOLOCAUST ENDS. 1st day of 3 days and 3 nights in grave - silent.

    Nisan 21 1946 Jesus in tomb - 1st night

Nisan 21 1946 Jesus in tomb 2nd day

Nisan 22 1947 Jesus in tobm 2nd night

Nisan 22 1947 Jesus in tomb 3rd day

Nisan 23 1948 Jesus rises 3rd night, resurrected. Jewish "tribulation" ends and they regain control over Palestine, set up date of Israel.

Interpretation related to 70 CE: Jesus' surrounded by guards in the garden related to when Jerusalem is surrounded by encamped armies helps us understand that the "disgusting thing ina holy place that causes desolation" is the army that will desolate the Jews at the last "great tribulation" they being the Nazi Army. This is the attack of "Gog of Magog" the white descendants of Japheth against God's people (i.e. the Jews and JWs). Gog of Magog will again cause rebellion after the millennium, meaning that concepts of "white supremacy" will again come into focus to oppose God's kingdom for some reason, perhaps because the millennium rule by Christ will be closer to a communistic form of government where there is not a great difference between any class of individual and certainly no "rich class" and that tends to go against the psychological grain of Europeans who tend to enjoy a more "capitalistic" type of rule as well as democratic rule. But the world of the rich, educated and elite being serviced by a lower class of the poor and uneducated common laborers will be a thing of the past. There can be no true "rich class" without a lower class to service them, so maybe that will be the complaint. The grand life of the rich won't exist, perhaps some Europhilic desire to establish the opulent world many now enjoy will be the focus of the complaint.

At any rate, the PASSION did take 7 days and not just one, so keep that in mind when watching the film.

JC, The Egyptians did not start their Day at midnight. Sunset or sunrise, because midnight would be subjective... sundials don't work at night.
