There are dozens of threads on this board about the fall of the Watchtower Society. Most of the members here are self-motivated to do what they can to make their walls crumble. The problem is, so many ex-Jehovah?s Witnesses are going about it the wrong way.
We?ve seen that technology, education, outdated teachings, and their absurd practices are making their numbers dwindle. Young ones are leaving in masses and a smaller number of people are replacing them.
Ex-JW?s try to ?open the eyes? of brainwashed JW?s who are either not ready to come out, or never will come out. Steven Hassan said you should do whatever you can to get a loved one out of a dangerous mind controlling group and I agree with him. When it comes to the JW?s, however, trying to take the blinders off is not an easy task and has a small success rate
How do we help the numbers continue to dwindle? Educate the public. The more the public knows about the JW?s, the less likely they are to replace ones leaving. I came to this web site a couple of years ago because a friend of mine got involved with the Witnesses. I spent almost a year researching the WT before trying to help him. I asked him the right questions, which completely stumbled him, and showed him old WT books and magazines. He?s still a JW and no longer calls me because I?m now labeled ?bad association.?
I just couldn?t let it drop there. I printed up a one page letter and put in as much information as I could fit about the teachings of the WT and their problems. This letter included web sites for more information and good logical questions to ask JW?s when they come a knockin. With the help of friends, this letter was distributed via door to door and direct mail all within the area of our friend?s Kingdom Hall. We also placed the letter on community bulletin boards and distributed them on cars in parking lots.
We reached around 1500 homes. Additionally we wrote a letter geared to churches, synagogues, temples, and mosques in the area urging religious leaders to warn their members about the JW?s and included web sites for more information. This went out to every religious temple in the area.
To add fuel to the fire, we sent a letter to the Presiding Overseer and elders informing them we did this and that their congregation should be well equipped to answer some questions. We ended the letter thanking the Watchtower for fighting for our right to be able to go door to door to distribute our material
