I'm simply stating that working towards a better world and having some success makes a bigger difference than bringing down some crackpot religion and having some other crackpot religion spring up, feeding the same needs that that last one did. I don't think I talked about ultimate perfection or 100% fulfillment - that's the "paradise earth" argument, folks. The objection that not every person can be totally fulfilled isn't a sufficient reason, in my mind, to not work towards a better world.
So, are you saying that the world isn't more peaceful than it used to be? Are you saying that life on earth isn't more fulfilling than it used to be? If I understand you correctly, you're saying that things can't be universally fulfilling, because peace is impossible, because conflict is inevitable. And no, you're right, sitting on our asses ain't gonna improve the world - so get out there and make a difference. How? You're a responsible adult - you figure it out. I'd rather have someone that disagrees with me about what should be done out there doing something, rather than someone who agrees with me doing squat. And while you are undoubtedly doing something, I am suggesting that your effectiveness will be limited for the reasons already stated.
BTW, I suggest that if the WTS wasn't emotionally satisfying to its members, they would leave. The fact that they have so many leave shows that they fail a lot of people. You (not "you", growed, just a figure of speech) can talk about lies, coercion, or "mind control" - but the bottom line is that people pay the prices to get the benefits, right up until they decide to stop.
