Exactly. Please let us know how we can get help to you. It is a privilege to be in a position to help! Especially to help you who have worked so hard to take care of yourself and keep getting the legs knocked out from under you. I'm not sure if I can get pms or not (I have a Macintosh), but you can email me at [email protected].

To those who were talking about financial help please review this thread:

    http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/41910/581588/post.ashx#581588

Yiz has never been a Witness yet came here looking for hand-outs and then later to preach his particular form of Born Again Christianity. I respect that he finally went out and tried to better his situation but every time he discussed his life and how he came to be in this difficult situation it is never his fault and he accepts no responsibility. His own family (also not Witnesses) aren't helping him anymore.

I wish him no ill will but I don't want newer users here to be sucked into financially helping someone who seems to be a chronic hand-out situation.

Yiz: Definitely go after them for the OT and unpaid time. You actually should be able to go after them for the pay decrease as well but that might prolong the situation before you see the $$. Your past attempts at finding work should be of good use to you. Perhaps go back and check with any of the employers that seemed to like you but didn't have any work at the time.

    Best of luck to you.

I have followed Yiz situation form the first time he came to the board, scared and asking for help. but he pulled himself up by the boot straps, as they say, and has lived on the streets and worked very hard to get in a better situation. I would not have helped him before with money, but this time, i feel diferently. If we say "go and stay warm" are we not like the ones jesus spoke about who did not apply the law of love? There is a time for actual hands on help. For me, Yiz has proven he can take responsibility for himself and i would not be afradi to pitch in with some money.

Some people have chronic problems, and it does not always have to be their fault. I don't see him blaming anyone and if u have read all his posts u will see he has really grown from this experience.

Yes Wednesday I have grown and experienced alot on my own.

I do apologize when I first came to the board and inserted my foot in my mouth. That's my fault and mine alone.

But alot of people understood why I did that, chastized me at first, but offered alot of advice and suggestions for me to do, in which I humbly took them.

When I arrived at the shelter one year ago (around Feb 28th or 29th in the leap year), I had no money, my unemployment check hasn't yet been approved from my previous employment at Wal-Mart, I did alot of work details there to earn my keep at the shelter. I slept on the pews as a bed was not yet available and I was on the waiting list for a bed. I worked 8 1/2 hrs a day doing work details such as cleaning the shelter, sweeping the property, doing dishes, cooked food, etc.

Then my unemployment check finally arrived 2 weeks later. I paid my first rent of 65 dollars and it was every week. Later after the 3rd week, my name came up for a bed and a locker.

When I got my unemployment check, I was off work detail since I became a renter. First thing I had to learn was about the buses and how to find the stops and where to go. Once I learned all that, I started planning on job hunting.

For 5 months, everyday for 7 days I kept looking for a job. I was discouraged and frustrated, but I kept going.

Then I landed the job at Shell working 3rd shift (which is perfect for me due to my deafness, less crowd to deal with and more work for me to do such as cleaning, stocking, pulling trash, etc. Kept me busy all night. I was happy.) Then I was offered more hours, so I worked my ass off for sometimes one week 48 hrs, then another week 52 hrs, another week 70 hrs, one time I did 80 hrs in one week. I would often sleep in the back room of the store when I know I'm dued back to work in 6 hrs. Takes too long to ride the bus and back since it's 1 1/2 hrs one way trip. (alot of stops, whew!) I was pulling doubles everyday (sometimes almost everyday), even tho that meant dealing a more crowded people on 1st or 2nd shift, whichever I have been assigned to. I did ok.

I paid off my old landlord, utility bills and other stuff.

Then I saved up for a car, kept my eye out on everything for a good car in the papers, trader magazines, etc. Finally found an oldmobile for 1 grand, called the deaf relay and got the car. I was soooo happy! No more bus rides, my ass hurts! LOL

Then I saved up for an apt. Wanted to find a good deal. I watched, and watched. Finally saw an apt for $425 a month with ALL UTILITIES PAID! I thought that was a great deal! I jumped at it. Went to see the landlord couple, filled out the forms, wrote notes back and forth. They decided they liked me, but need to process the paperwork first, better safe than sorry. I waited, and waited. One day at the front desk at the shelter, I got a message from them, they wanted me to move in right away and told me where to meet them to sign the lease and get the keys! w00t! I grabbed my stuff and stuffed it in my trunk and I was OUTTA there!!!! BYE BYE!

11 whole months since I've lived in the shelter and I was so happy and proud of my accomplishments. Now this jerk lets me go. Totally unexpected and I had hoped to keep this job until I got me something better when the weather got warmer. *sigh!*

Welp, I need to shower now and get ready to head out, got all the apps filled out and ready to return them.

    Wish me luck!

    Hi Yiz;

Geeze, you've had a real hard time with your employers and it seems like you live in an area of Indiana where jobs are scarce. Should you maybe move to a larger city where there's more job prospects? Temp agencies are your best bet. I know that places like Kelly Services will provide you with free computer training (at least they do here in Canada) if they feel that they'll be able to place you. They pay might not be too much at first, but once you get experience, you should be able to find a full time job. And believe me, working with computers pays alot more than working at Wal-Mart.

I can't afford to help you out financially, as I've been helping my brother (who got laid off last year) for the last 7 months and I've got exactly $1.20 in my chequing account till I get paid on Friday. (I'm rich!!).

    Best of luck.

I met Yiz in Pa. I think what he says about his hearing impediment may be a fact in finding work. He has picketed with me. I did not realize he had never been a witness. I have on one occasion been able to help in a very small way. but I think Yiz is a believable lad....His boss! probably hired him with the right motive! but if the hearing was absent -maybe he reconsidered !!! we really have to know both sides. He has done alot to help JWs escape to freedom. Yiz hang in therre. Remember better times ahead.

Thanks Mouthy. Some of us have discussed the jw issue as relating to Yizu.

Personally I do not base my friendship or willingness to help him contingent on his religious affiliation.

I help out how I can to those I feel are worthy. Yizu seems to be hard working and aggressive in his own welfare,

Thanks for your input Mouthy, as someone who has met Yizu and posting your opinion of his charactor.

I am also aware of Yizu's hearing impairment and certainly that makes things harder in regards to employment opportunities.

I trust Yizu as being sincere. If anyone finds him questionable or suspicious, well, to each their own. He didnt ask for help here financially, some of us offered to help. I am comfortable in helping him. I am not soliciting help for him btw.

Purely a personal choice. Yizu, PM the posters who have offered support, we are at a loss as to how to help you.

Some want to help but the logistics are difficult. PM the willing with an address or account number to contribute.

    ((((hugs)))))

I am sorry that you lost your job, that's tough for anyone in this economy. I encourage you to pound the pavement looking for a new job, and while you are seeking employment please consider the following action as well:

Since you have a documented disability, contact your local department of social services. You may be eligible for SSI benefits due to your disabled status. You may also qualify for food stamps. Those programs are in place to help those who qualify for them.

While you are unemployed and have no income, contact your local food bank. You will, no doubt, qualify for their services and that will eliminate grocery expense from your obligations and also provide you with nutritious food.

Another option for you is to contact the local catholic church and inquire after their St. Vincent DePaul society's services. This service group will evaluate your specific need and contribute to it regardless of your religious affiliation if you are sincere in your need.

If you need any help locating the phone numbers or office addresses for these organizations, PM me with your location and I'll search for the information for you.

    TY Sara Annie

Catholic Charities will help bunches. A good organization. Now don't put this good advice off Yizu, do it now. Putting things off will cause a crises.

And get your stuff out of storage. A waste of money! That is 60 bucks per month that you can re-direct!
