Why Mary, that was a FANTASTIC list! You are right. Just always "get the word" from the elders. Ask for their guidance and opinion on EVERYTHING. Then, you too, could be an elder or elder's wife!

An imitatator of Jesus Christ -- empathetic, loving, good evangelizer, good teacher and good SHEPHERD -- mild yoke, mild tempered, not a control freak, not interested in lording it over others -- having a real concern for others -- that minimus is a good elder (notice Gods organization loyalty is not even mentioned) i believe that mentions a good elder. the way that one elder (the cool one that is really a good elder) explains it to me, there's 3 types. There are the elders that are the Saw, or File, or the Hammer. The saw can cut thru the wood the easiest. but if you don't have a saw, the file can cut thru the wood, but it sands some away and is a bit harder. but if you don't have the file or the saw, you have to use a hammer. and trying to cut wood with a hammer is kinda stupid. unfortunately, there's not a lot of "saws" at the congregations, so you get shitty elders. i'll post more about this in my topics because they're interesting =D

There are a number of men that are "good elders". Not every elder tries to slice and dice people. But unfortunately, those that are "hammers" are the ones that take ultimate congregation control and beat on the sheep.

    Qualifications

    • A 'yes man' thug that is adequately deluded about being personally holy and a God given 'human gift'.
    • The 'yes man' criteria must extend to supporting known lies
    • The personal holiness delusion must extend to knowing that you're right when you disown your children
    • The 'human gift' belief is supported by both knowing that you're the right person for the job (as prooved by your primary loyalty to the 'god'), and by the 'yes man' attribute (as prooved by just how much garbage is able to be swallowed)

    Qualifications for a good elder

    • A willingness to undertake a very short lived position
    • An ability to tell as many as possible that your religion is total b*****it

A good elder is kind and considerate, caring for the sheep as did Jesus. The book "A Shepherd Looks at the 23rd Psalm" reflects on the care that a literal shepherd shows to his sheep. Can you imagine a shepherd yanking a burr from the fleece of his sheep without a care as to the feelings of the sheep? Why would a figurative shepherd, an elder if you will, be abusive, uncaring and harsh to people who certainly have a much higher value than a beast? Yet today's "appointed????" shepherds show little regard for the well being of the flock who so need care and affection. The feelings and tenor of the 23rd Psalm is not being fulfilled by the elders of today No wonder I remain a Sadelder.

    Mary Mary Mary...ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!

You'd think mary had been an elder eh? She knows more of how to qualify than a damn dude!

In my opinion a good elder was one who cared for the others.......genuinely. If you look back and try to think of someone you would have/did talked to if there was a problem.....it was the elder who cared for others......not one who was at all the meetings or in service every saterday. They were many times the more introverted elders.....not the arrogant loudmouthed bastards, who were good shepards of the flock.

My elder friend told me today that after a fellow elder got chastised because his talks and parts were not up to par, he resigned yesterday. He got ganged up by 3 elders and finally said he had it!
