I knew of an elder that felt very strongly that oral sex was what married couples SHOULD practice. He voiced this opinion on the platform and privately and not long afterward got deleted.

I think is a married couple both enjoy the practices, whatever they be, there is no problem. Its when one mate does not want to participate or feels neglected then someone goes crying to the elders.
Otherwise why would two grown liberal minded adults mind not serving each other?

I just have a question: how do people know it's a local needs talk? Does the speaker present it as that?

The elders meet periodically to discuss congregation issues, and one of the agenda items is "local needs." The PO will solicit topics for the upcoming local needs parts scheduled by the WTS on the KM service meeting schedule. This is the opportunity for elders to vent about things going on the congo that piss them off. These range from poor meeting and field service participation to sisters wearing skirts that are too short. Once a list of topics is agreed upon, various bro's are assigned to handle each one, by doing their own "research" into the WTS publications to see what "mother" has had to say on the subject. The quality of these talks is all over the map, of course. Afterwards, some have wondered what the talk was about. Others spend time trying to guess "who" the talk was about. Many times, the real topic was so unclear no one had a clue what it was about.

The WORST thing that could happen is having to have a personal talk with a person "suffering from the problem of masturbation". The next worse thing is having to give the "masturbation talk".

As young bros growing up, the wts stance on oral etc was of great interest - i.e. 'well see here, they haven't 'talked' about it for years now, thats a good sign thats it ok' heh heh whatever
i personally remember not so long ago feeling great guilt over certain sexual practices cuz of wts stance and all the pressure to conform - ahhhh freedom is oh so sweet and pleasureable sometimes.
what are the latest stats on how many masterbate? ~98% or something for men at some point in their lives, jeece, i guess ALL of the other 2% are born into the borg dubs right?
And as regards local needs talks, I can't imagine finding much support amongst the bros for talks against short skirts on sisters - i mean come on get real! They should have a talk if they're too long, and lets see those gams ladies! Uhhh, respectfully of course.

Sheila and I decided soon after we were married that our intimacy and the aspects of it were nobody's business, but our own. I figure it is the same for many others.
I always wondered why there were so many detailed rules and regulations for everything from soup to nuts. I think it is a control issue. If you're so busy scanning a list of rules before you make a move, you don't have time to question the need, basis or value of the rules.
My feeling on the "oral and anal" stuff has always been that the "Org" related such practices to homosexuality and thus forbade even married couples from making their own choice as to wether or not it was all right for them.
Jesus said "Love God and love your neighbor". Thats enough for me. What we do in the bedroom doesn't hurt anyone, and quite often "God" is even mentioned by one, if not both of us.

My opinion is that roughly half believe the nonsense, and deprive themselves of God-given pleasures in the name of the WTC, and the other half remains quiet about what they do in their bedroom, and experience everything God meant a married man and woman to enjoy.
