well if the devil was one upping god with 666 then crowley one upped the devil with 777 but I think 666 was a more profound "one up."

Of course the devil probably didnt come up with 666 it was more likely just applied to him. It does have a certain mystique though there is no doubt. Its kind of like the Swastika.

    Who left out the relevance of 111, 222, 333, 444, 555, 888, 999, etc?

I remember the Ducati 888 being refered to as the devils big brother, so that must mean 777 would be his big brother too. And its also my reference number at work!

Actually, was not 888 ("Jesus") the traditional christian answer?

    LT:

Is that part of a Mandama?

I think you may have meant mandala? (If not, I don't know what a mandama is). It is similar to a mandala, but I don't remember the exact name for Hermetic and Qabbalistic charts.

The chart is something of a gnostic aid to hermetic idea that life evolving completes seven revolutions around seven globes of seven world periods, if that makes sense (it never made much to me)

I understand 888 is a very lucky number for the Chinese...

I'd have to say I'd rather see 777 than 666.....after all, 666 gets me nothing on the slot machine.....but 777 is the big pay-off (big money...big money........)

Dawn....Good point!!! That's one point in favor of 777. But being lucky is not necessarily the same thing as holy (this goes for bebu's comment as well). Not that they ought to be, but it strikes me that holy things tend to have terrible luck (e.g. the Ten Commandments getting smashed, the Ark of the Covenant getting swiped by the Philistines and giving them *very* bad luck, two Temples getting trashed, the Bible getting corrupted, the saints and martyrs getting, well, martyred, etc.).

Narkissos....Hmmmm, tell us the scoop about 888. The only number I recall associated with Jesus was 318. I definitely like 888 better than 777.
