: Please!! Who is there to teach me the ways of Christ Jesus?

Well, you just might start with the words that people said Christ said.

One Gospel said he was meek and mild and another said he came not to bring peace, but a sword. It's all so confusing. In fact, if you actually READ the four Gospels and compare them with each other, your head will be swimming with contradictions.

Whatever he said was corrupted in the Gospels. But as one poster said, the gospel of John is considered by scholars to be the most accurate, even though it was written last.

Better to e-mail him and ask him what he REALLY said.

    mouthy,

I'm heartened and happy that some folks find comfort in the Bible scriptures. I, on the otherhand find none. I find violence of an unparalled scale, hatred, and major, MAJOR contradictions.

If the Bible's words give you comfort and hope, then I'm thrilled for you. I'm always happy when people find their niche for comfort and succor.

I was considered quite the Bible "scholar" in my halcyon days as a dub. This means that I knew at least ten scriptures. Tops.

Since then, and only recently (the last six or seven years) have I taken the time to actually read and STUDY the Bible. I find it (with my new eyes of logic) sorely lacking in most contexts. It is contradictory, anachronistic, unscientific and mostly idiotic. Mostly, the book is unworthy of a God who is the Creator of everything and an injustice to Him. Unless, that same God is a total jerk.

I find that latter possibility unreasonable. Therefore, I find the Bible is not from that same God. If it is, then God was impotent to let it get corrupted if HE thought it was necessary for humans to know it and believe in it to achieve their salvation. If he DID willingly let it get corrupted, then he doesn't care. If it was corrupted to begin with and became even more corrupted later, then he doesn't care.

If the Bible is not from God, then don't believe it. If it IS from God and given the evidence above, then God doesn't care what versions it takes over the years, and one shouldn't believe it.

If one blindly believes it given this, then one is foolishly following men who will corrupt anything to serve their needs.

This is just my opinion, though.

The greatest of love and peace to you, my dear friend... and THANK YOU for your "logic"... for it is sound!

You are absolutely correct, the Most Holy One of Israel did NOT "inspire" the Bible as so many have been misled to believe. The Bible... is the "product" of earthling man. God did, however, inspire the SCRIPTURES... some of which are contained IN the Bible (and many of which are not!)... in that those writings that He TOLD men to write, and such men did so "IN SPIRIT" (which is what the word "inspired" means... "men wrote, while IN THE SPIRIT"...), and wrote what they were directed to. That being TRUE, the "scriptures" are ONLY "Moses, the Psalms, the Prophets," and the Revelation.

Why the confusion, though? Why do so many believe the Bible to be the Word of God? Well, there are at least two very good reasons:

    1. Because they cannot SEE... because they are blind. For if they could see... they would know that the CHRIST... is the Word of God... and there is NO OTHER. HE is the One that is called the Word of God... NOT the Bible. Thus, they would look to HIM... and nothing else. But in believing themselves to "have knowledge," they assume that the Bible is the Word of God... and some even assume that the WTBTS is the "truth". Neither are correct... and THE BIBLE plainly says this. We are sanctified by means of God's Word... which Word is TRUTH. We are sanctified by Christ, who is that Word... and Truth.

    John 1:1, 14; 14:6; Revelation 19:13

    2. If they COULD see... they would, then, LOOK TO HIM... and not to the "law" written in delible ink... which the "false stylus" of the "secretaries"... those referred to as "the scribes and the Pharisees," mangled... for their own benefit. They would SEE that it is for that reason that he CONDEMNED them... the "scribes"... copyists of the "scriptures"... and the "Pharisees"... teachers of the false law... and told us NOT to follow them. They would KNOW that they do not NEED the law "written on stone tablets" or "written in delible ink"... for they SHOULD have such law... written on their HEARTS. But who do they look to to WRITE it there? The Bible... cannot write.

    3. Because they cannot HEAR... because they are deaf. Thus, although the Most Holy One of Israel said of His Christ, "This is my Son; LISTEN TO HIM"... they do not. And although that Son said "MY sheep LISTEN TO MY VOICE," and "MY shee KNOW MY VOICE," these do not. Why? They cannot... because he is a SPIRIT... and they are yet fleshly... needing to see... and hear... with their FLESH... and not their SPIRIT. For if they COULD see and hear... with the spirit.. they would see the following words, and HEAR what he says... and get the sense of it:

"You are searching the scriptures... because you THINK that by means of THEM... you will have everlasting life. And these are the very ones that bear witness... about ME. And yet... YOU DO NOT WANT TO COME.... to ME... that you might have life."

They do not GET that they can read and read and read... and search and search and search... the scriptures... yes, even the Bible... and STILL will not find what they are looking for. Why? Because... the Bible... cannot give it to them! If it COULD, then EVERYONE who READ the Bible... would GET it. Whether they be Catholic, Protestant, JW, Mormon... what have you. If reading the BIBLE was ALL that is needed, they would NOT read the same book... and get different results.

But my Lord did not say, "Seek the Bible, and all these things will be given to you." No, he said, "Seek the KINGDOM." And he said, "The kingdom... is IN YOUR MIDST." And he said, "The Father and I will COME TO YOU... and MAKE OUR ABODE... IN YOU." And Paul (?) wrote, "IF the Christ truly resides IN you," and "YOU... are the TEMPLE of God," and Christ is "building a house for God TO INHABIT BY SPIRIT."

Christ... IS THE KINGDOM... the One whom we must seek, the WORD of God... the WAY... the TRUTH... and the LIFE. There IS NO OTHER. HE... is the "good news" of which John the Baptist spoke, and the Prophets spoke, and David and others wrote the Psalms... and who Moses followed. HE... is the means by which God will save the world. Good news... indeed! And this "good news"... the news... ABOUT THE CHRIST... that he is NOT dead... but is ALIVE... and exerts POWER... and is sharper than any two-edged sword... so that HE "pierces" to the bone and marrow and discerns the heart... so that nothing is hid... from HIM... is what his true disciples "preach" about.

We can keep searching the scriptures, Daddy-O... in hopes of finding the answers. OR... we can EXERCISE FAITH... and simply "see" the One who can and will grant us life... by means of the spirit of God, HOLY SPIRIT... and "hear" him as his leads us by means of HIS voice. All we need do is ASK... in FAITH... without "doubting at all"... and will receive the "gifts of the spirit," just as God deems through Christ... and the sacred secrets of ALL creation... will be "opened" to us.

May those who have ears... hear. May those who do not... be granted them, through Christ, so AS to hear... if they TRULY wish it.

A servant to the Household of God, Israel, and all those who go with them... and a slave of Christ, to time indefinite...

Farkel... I understand how you feel. I just have a sense that God has not left me. I am not a great reader of the Bible ( I was as a JW) A Guest had a few thought provoking comments to make, But my interaction is with Jesus. Yes The Bible tells what man has written about HIM, but my experience is WITH HIM>>>.I really do feel HIS presence ..Folks may say I am illusional, may be they are right, But I do have the peace that I have never had before in my 76 years. So I attribuate it to Jesus....But hey listen my love we are all on a spiritual search- some feel they have found it -some feel there is nothing spiritual to find. That is why we MUST continue to think INdependatly _ I dont have to believe your beliefs-you dont have to believe mine -but the one bond we have is LOVE!!!!!!! (((HUG))
