Personally, I would love to hear more about what AGuest wrote re: the printed "Word" only being Moses/Psalms/Prophets/Revelation.

Then, by all means, prais JAH! and please let me share with you (and whomever else is "interested") what my Lord has taught me... and note that I have been directed to use the Bible as a "second witness," for those who need me to. So, let's start, shall we? Thank you!

First, let's start with the statement:

"All scripture is inspired and beneficial..."

Good verse, yes? And it is that very verse that causes most to put their faith IN the bible. But what exactly IS "scripture"? Does "the Bible" tell us? Indeed, it does! In Luke's account, the Bible tells us an incident that occurred after my Lord's death and resurrection. It is recorded by Luke that when two of his disciples were journeying to Emmaus, my Lord appeared to them, although neither of them initially recognized him. They were sad over his death and had lost faith that he was indeed Messiah. Even though they were told that he was not in the tomb and that an angel had been instead, they were commiserating the matter. My Lord is recorded to have reproached them for their lack of faith and the account goes on to state:

?And commencing at Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them things pertaining to himself in ALL THE SCRIPTURES.?

He made such an impression on them in doing so, that the account tells us that when these related the event to the others, they said:

?Were not our hearts burning as he was speaking to us on the road, as he was FULLY OPENING UP THE SCRIPTURES to us??

(Luke 24:27, 32)

But the account does not stop there, for in verse 44 it goes on to state:

?He now said to them: ?These are my word which I spoke to you while I was yet with you, that ALL THE THINGS WRITTEN IN THE LAW OF MOSES AND IN THE PROPHETS AND PSALMS about me must be fulfilled. Then? he opened up their minds? FULLY? to grasp the meaning? OF THE SCRIPTURES.?

(Please note, this is exactly what has occurred with me also, that which I profess and bear witness to you and everyone here? as often as I am permitted to do so by holy spirit!)

Well, okay, you might say, he?s speaking of the things IN ?Moses, the Prophets and Psalms?? that are about HIM? but not everything in them. To that, I would ask you to please read again and HEAR and get the sense of what my Lord is recorded to have said at John 5:39, 40:

?You are searching the SCRIPTURES?

because you think that by means of THEM?

you will have life. And THESE (the scriptures)?

are the very ones that bear witness?

ABOUT ME . And yet?

YOU DO NOT WANT TO COME?

to ME?

that you may have life.?

Whoa! You mean no more Paul/Peter/James/John/Acts/Gospels/Proverbs/etc. etc.??

Well, p lease also note that at the time covered by Luke?s writing, which was shortly after my Lord?s death, NONE of the ?gospels? were written, nor were any of the ?epistles,? or letters, to the congregations. Nor were they written when Timothy was an infant, and yet, Paul wrote to him:

?That from INFANCY you have known the HOLY WRITINGS, which are able to make you WISE for salvation??

or the more popularly known:

?All SCRIPTURE (or holy writings) ? is beneficial? that the man of God may be FULLY COMPETENT??

(2 Timothy 3:15, 16)

As for the Book of Proverbs, that which I received from my Lord is that the book is actually part of the Psalms, which were written by several, including David. However, because Solomon was renowned for his wisdom, his were set apart.

(1 Kings 4:29-34 ? please note his writings also included ?songs?, which is what many of the Psalms are?)

That would certainly take a load of guilt off, always feeling guilty for not reading the Bible page after page, but only checking out scriptures at gospel.com now and then. :-/

Many, many people read the Bible, dear GRITS. Page after page, verse after verse, scripture after scripture. They recite, quote, interpret, iterate, translate, transliterate? and where are they? Any ?closer? to God? Nope. That?s because you can?t GET to God by going ?through? the Bible. My Lord is recorded to have said:

?NO ONE? comes to the Father? EXCEPT? through ME.?

(John 14:6)

That is why he said what he did at John 5:39, 40: folks keep thinking that can get in, find the ?way? in? by ?searching the scriptures.? They ENTIRELY miss the point: that HE, my Lord, the Son of God and His ?Christ?? or ?messiah,? His chosen/anointed One? is ?the Way?? and that there is NO other. HE? is the ?door?? the ?narrow gate?? THROUGH which all who ?wish? it, must enter.

(John 10:7, 9)

And you do it by following NOT the apostles? but the FAITH of the apostles: although they did not always understand what they saw and heard? while he was WITH them, they pretty much never left him. And what does he say to us? The same that he said to them:

?Look! I am WITH YOU? ALL the days? until the end.?

Like everyone, I always thought reading scripture was THE "approved and sanctioned by God" WAY to get to know Jesus, so I am a bit flabberghasted at this 'news' about the entire Bible

People will tell you that the Bible is the ?word? of God. The BIBLE will tell you that the SON OF GOD is the ?Word? of God.

John 1:1, 14; Revelation 19:13

People will tell you that the Bible is the ?truth.? The BIBLE will tell you that THE SON OF GOD is the Truth.

John 8:32; John 14:6; John 8:36

People will tell you that the Bible is the ?way? to get knowledge of God. The BIBLE will tell you that the SON OF GOD is the Way to get knowledge of God.

John 14:6, 7, 9-11

People will tell you that the Bible is the ?way? TO God. The BIBLE will tell you that the SON OF GOD is the Way to God.

John 14:6; John 10:1-10

People will tell you that the Bible is sanctified and will sanctify you (thus, they even ?swear? on it!). The BIBLE will tell you that you are ?sanctified? by means of the truth and that God?s word is truth?

John 17:17

But what it is TELLING you is that you are sanctified by CHRIST? God?s WORD? and God?s Word... CHRIST... is TRUTH... so that you ARE indeed ?sanctified? by means of God?s Word... and God?s Word IS Truth. You are SANCTIFIED? the Word? Christ? who IS THE TRUTH.

Hebrews 13:12; John 17:19; 14:6

People will tell you that the Bible is infallible, contains no errors, has been perfectly preserved and contains all of the holy writings. The BIBLE will tell you that the ?false stylus of the secretaries has worked in sheer falsehood itself,?? that my Lord CONDEMNED the ?scribes?? those who were responsible for copying the Law and holy writings... and Pharisees to deceived and misled by means of them... and nowhere does it tell you that such writings were ever restored.

HISTORY will tell you that one major issue with regard to the copying of the scriptures was the Greek Septuagint, which caused SUCH a controversy over its translation that the Jews became fragmented because of it. And the Greek Septuagint was written a few hundred years before my Lord appeared on the scene. Did he refer to it? Do you see anywhere in any Bible where he said, ?Use the Greek Septuagint; it?s perfectly intact?? Nope. Do you not think that if it were, he would have? Yet, EVERY BIBLE READ TODAY has its origins in that version? from which came the Latin Vulgate, from which came the King James? from which MOST versions today were rendered. And if the FOUNDATION is ?rotten,?? how can the ?structure" stand?

I am sorry that no one has ever told these things to you, dear GRITS, but I speak the truth to you, just as I have learned it from my Lord. I cannot express to you how much it PAINS my heart to know just how MISLED we have all been? and many still are... by those who SUPPOSEDLY were to guide us uprightly. But? they, too, have been misled and thus they are BLIND guides, for they don?t know either. Why? Two reasons:

(1) Because? like you? and like me? previously? they, too, put their trust ?in earthling man.? WHY do we assume that ?men? will tell us the truth? Why do we assume they KNOW it? Because what they say SOUNDS good? and we like to have our ears ?tickled.? But that which sounds good does not necessarily mean ?truth.?

Matthew 15:14; Psalm 146:3

(2) Because they WANT to be misled. They don't WANT to "seek" for themselves: they are "sheep"... in need of a "shepherd"... but because they are not HIS sheep, they willingly follow whatever "voice" sounds "good" to them... even if it be the voice... of a stranger.

Jeremiah 5:29-31; John 10:5

How, then, can we be SURE we are getting the truth? There is only ONE way: by following... so as to get it FROM... the Truth! HE... is the FINE shepherd... who gave his LIFE for the sheep, because he truly LOVES the sheep. He knows them... and they know him... and his voice.

John 10:14, 15; Matthew 23:10

Jesus being the 'audible WORD,' however, makes good sense.

Well, in order for his sheep to hear his voice, it would have to be audible, wouldn?t it? We have been misled, however, into believe that that voice is either (1) ?through the pages of the Bible? or (2) would be from the sky (the "heavens"). What MELARKEY!!! We will run and hide from, and whimper and cry about ?the demons? - Oooh! Don?t say that: the demons might hear! Oooh! Don?t do that: the demons might see! Oooh! Don?t listen to that: the DEMONS are speaking!? OMIGOSH! I ask you: WHO? is more powerful? God and Christ? Or Satan and the demons? If, then, Satan and the demons can speak to us, possess us, enter in and control us? why in the WORLD can?t, don?t, won?t? God and Christ?!

But does not THE BIBLE say:

?If ANYONE? LOVES me, he will observe MY WORD, and my Father will love HIM? and WE? SHALL COME TO HIM? and make our abode WITH him??

And?

?? you are in harmony, not with the flesh, but with the spirit, IF GOD?S SPIRIT? truly DWELLS? IN YOU??

And?

?If now? the SPIRIT of Him that raised up Jah?eShua from the dead dwells? IN YOU? He that raise of MischaJah Jah?eShua FROM the dead will also make YOUR mortal bodies alive, through His SPIRIT? that RESIDES? IN YOU.?

In my 'old age,' I don't fancy reading books much anymore, and like the idea of communicating in "audible word" and "in spirit."

When you read, ask the Father to send the Holy Spirit to you, to guide you and teach you. And He will send His Son, the HOLY SPIRIT? the One who was dead but rose to become a LIFE-GIVING SPIRIT? who is glorified and HOLY? and THAT ONE will teach you ALL things. He will recall to your mind the things HE told you, NOT necessarily when you read the Bible, but even when you were still in your mother?s womb, and before.

There are things IN you, dear GRITS? ?planted? in you? in ALL of us? ?from the founding of the world,? that we have ?entirely forgotten.? And so, the Father, OUR Father? the Most Holy One of Israel, whose name is JAH? of Armies? the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, who is in the spirit realm? the ?heavens?? sent His Son? our Lord and Leader? JAHESHUA MISCHAJAH? to REMIND us? and teach us? and recall for us? that which we knew BEFORE the founding of the world? the throwing down of the ?seed? (of the woman)? to be true and right and just. If, then, God dwells in the "kingdom of the heavens," and such kingdom is ?in your midst,?? and if God and Christ dwell IN you? by all rules of LOGIC... the kingdom, then, must be IN you. And thus, it would from WITHIN you? that God, through Christ? would speak. May you be granted ears? to hear... and eyes... to see... if you truly wish it. All you need do... is ask.

I find it interesting to note that the detractors, in this thread, have completely missed the point of the original request.
Ah well, so be it...

IMHO the bible expresses the interpretation people put on their lives. Sometimes they were a blood-thirsty lot, and so ascribed some interesting things to their "god".
If you want to see the "ways" of Jesus Christ then you can simply begin with the words of those that "followed" him first hand. These, too, may be interpretations, but it'll be a starting point.
I also recommend "John" and "Mark".

Then, if you like what you read (from what his friends wrote about him, and what they recalled him saying) you might move on to trying to start your own relationship with him.
It's a bit like the difference (I would humbly submit) between hearing what people say about me (and even what I've written here) and actually meeting me.

You will never "KNOW" Jesus and his "ways" until you meet him. Until then you will only know what others say about him.

Now some say that he doesn't exist, but for some strange reason I suspect that is likely because they've never met him, either. They might rail against that assertion, but I stand by it.
I have met with him, and would attest to his existence. Is that my opinion, or my interpretation of my experiences? Well, you be the judge of that. It's your call!

i do think it is interesting to read what J.C.'s friends wrote about him....from a historical perspective. i do love history so. and who better to hear it from than those who followed him (as you point out)...i also think if people want to try and emulate some of J.C.'s attributes, they will end up better for the effort. so to learn the ways of J.C. from that approach works for me.

all the other stuffs....IMO is but grasping at the wind. it is where people get themselves into hot water by bending and twisting history and its facts, interpretations, possibilities...into what they want to believe or to use for control over others....to inflict harm, impose guilt, oppress others, mislead and abuse. basically, our common experience of ~~cultism and mind control~~ religion.

You met some man (probably named Bob or Dave or sumthin') dressed in a red-and-white suit, who the mall owners/proprietors/parents of young children wish young children to BELIEVE is "Santa."

Does "Santa" exist? Well, the man dubbed Saint Nicholas apparently did at some time, and apparently was "sainted" for his compassion and generosity... and it is that "spirit" that some people feel the need to keep alive... at least during one season of the year.

The spirit that is my Lord, however, absolutely does exist: he is alive... and exerts power.

He is not illusive, but is readily near to all. Unfortunately, MOST... walk by SIGHT... and not by FAITH... so that they ONLY thing they can see and hear is what is apparent... to the FLESH. Some, though, walk by FAITH... and by MEANS of that faith... can see and hear that which is evidently demonstrated... by and to the SPIRIT.

Many, however, don't "get" that; they don't get just what faith IS:

"The ASSURED expectation of things hoped for, the EVIDENT DEMONSTRATION of REALITIES, though not BEHELD."

If something is "assured"... dear Flower... then is it CERTAIN. If it is "evident"... then it is MANIFEST, readily discernable. If it is "demonstrated"... then it is either VISIBLE, HEARD, SMELLED, TASTED or FELT. If it is a "reality"... then it is NOT FALSE. For it to be "beheld," however, one would have to SEE or HEAR it with one's eyes or ears of flesh.

FAITH... then... is the CERTAIN MANIFESTATION OF THE VISIBLE... or HEARD... or SMELLED... or TASTED... or FELT/TOUCHED... REALITY... though one does not see or hear or smell or taste or feel it with one's flesh. For it is not "empirical"... but SPIRITUAL.

So one much see, hear, smell, taste or feel it... with one's SPIRIT. For we are, ALL of us, in possession of spirit... as well as flesh. For SPIRIT... is the "man" you are on the INSIDE, vs. the flesh... the "man" you are on the OUTSIDE. For even if you were to lose your eyes of flesh... your ears of flesh... your tongue of flesh... your arms and legs of flesh... your HEART... and other internal organs of flesh... you would STILL be you. Because your FLESH is not WHO you are; it is only WHAT you are. Your SPIRIT, dear Flower... the spirit of "Flower"... is WHO you are.

As a civil servant, I have witnessed, first hand, how a manual can be mis-interpreted, mishandled, misconstrued, and used for selfish ends. Why do we write this stuff down in the first place? ...so that everybody has some clarity on what we want to do. What happens if the manual replaces original intent? Slavery to form.

Walk the dusty path that Jesus walked, Celtic. Stoop to lift a child. Embrace an untouchable. Spit mud in the eyes of the blind. Tell off a hypocrite.

You will have an inkling in to the ways of Jesus.
