Who cares if your or my name is on a master list and persecution comes? If that happens, just explain how you left the org and no longer believe in it. Really, nothing happens without God allowing it to (in a broad sense); I'll take whatever comes and trust in the providence of Him.

Amazing maintains this is not a Contract for instance, and therefore violation of Contract Law doesn't apply.

Yes, this process is known as Ratification. It has to do with approving something that changes 'after the fact' based on previous conditions. You can ratify or approve a change AND NOT EVEN BE AWARE OF HAVING DONE SO.

I don't know of anyone who has done this successfully. Some have tried and ended up disassociated. I thought it was a great idea, but nothing works. They will do it to you when they can, and the laws are with them, sadly.
