Bullied into quitting my job?

I would just ask "Why am I doing this all of a sudden?", isn't that what the janitors are for? The best thing to do IMHO is to go to monster and pick a job. I actually got laid off from my job literally about a week from my wedding, there's always a temp agency that you can go to. If you're a specialized profession I wouldn't worry about it, seriously there's always more jobs out there.

I find it strange that you are being reprimanded through the email system. That is very unprofessional. He should be talking to you in person so he has a chance to talk to you regarding it. Emails leave so much out of the equation, that you can even misunderstand intent. It does however leave a paper trail for him to use as evidence for your personel file.

I'd just play it nice for now. You need the job. But I'd be out looking elsewhere too.. I know people have said to tell him to f*ck off but that is a bridge even later not worth burning, you never know in the job world how that can come back to bite.. Be the bigger person and keep your cool, even after you quit.

    I await your reply.

That's the only space where he can nag you, if you didn't reply.

I like the "over-reporting" idea too, but if you go into statistics and all it might backfire. However, daily reports might make him sorry... try different fonts each day...

Look at it this way: in nice weather, you can enjoy some time outdoors, being extremely 'fastidious'... Spring is here, and summer's a-coming... who wants to be cooped up all day long???

If you do decide to quit, you should dump as much trash as you can find on his car or right in front of it. Other than that, this sounds like a bad exra scene they deleted out of Office Space. Good luck.

Nice thought about the paper trail. It can work both ways, depending on how things go. Save the emails, with complete headers. You never know if they could come in handy in a wrongful dismissal suit.

That is true. What I found quite cruel was when he asked me to do it last week. It was raining all morning, and right after it quit, he told me to pick up around the building (see first email). It was cold, windy, and all the garbage in the yard was soggy as hell.

As for informing a higher-up, there is none. He is the highest.

Another thing is that I do have a backup in case I end up getting canned - the part time job I held at Wendy's. They took me back once, what's to stop them from taking me back again? I'm fully trained there, and they're always hiring people. That would hold me until I found something else.

iiz2cool, I've been keeping all email correspondance. I also have an email from one of the higher-ups commenting on how "fat" my fiance is.

Something just doesn't sound "kosher" about this... how on earth does that amount of trash just "blow" into landscaping in such a short period of time?

I'm wondering if "someone" is dumping trash on the lot on purpose. Any chance you'd be able to set up a webcam (or several of them) to monitor this situation? On the plus side, you'd also have video documentation of you actually doing the work that he's asked of you. But you'll also figure out who is responsible for all that trash that's there.

If someone (especially your boss) is dumping the trash and making you clean it up, you'd have an airtight case for workplace harassment that you could take to the Ministry of Labour in your province. Then, it's lawsuit time.

Very interesting, Scully. The thing is, it's not a large amount of trash that's blowing onto the lawn! I could probably name you all the things I picked up. I completely understood last week when it took me an hour to pick it all up, since most of the snow has melted.

What ever you do Nos be careful out there.

The WSIB would sure be interested in how an "electonic assembly technician "suffered " a "time loss injury" injuring his back while shovelling snow, or suffering a serious cut to the hand while picking up trash form the employer's yard!
