It would be worth it to have him terminate you wrongfully then you can collect and look for another job.

Yeah, that would be worth it! Unfortunately, it's difficult to get someone to terminate you wrongfully. It's been really difficult to bite my tongue. Perhaps within the first 3 years I was employed there, I would just say "yes sir, sorry sir". I've done some major personality changes within the last 3 years, and now I'm finding it difficult to do this. I'm dying to stand up for myself, but I absolutely need the money right now, at least until the wedding's over.

Until then, I'm going to be the best damn garbage man that I can be! Neither rain nor snow nor lightning nor tornadoes will stop me from picking up garbage! I'll just work on the other employees' opinion of him until then. They'll see me picking up garbage in the pouring rain. Weather wasn't touched on in my new job description.

Nos, years ago at the Home Depot there was a rogue manager who decided he had to put me in my place because of a situation between me and another employee that he had history with and was very fond of personally.

So, he took away my somewhat "prestigious" position, if such a thing can exist in a place like the Home "Despot", but anyway, he created a new position for me to humiliate me and possibly to get me to quit, I don't know.

He made me the new "Greeter" and parking lot "watcher". Now imagine that! I was supposed to stand all day in the doorway in front of the store and hand out catalogs to incoming customers and greet them, and at the same time, watch to see where the employees parked!

He felt he could get away with this because in our state at the time there was a lot of emphasis on cleaning the air and relieving gridlock through ridesharing, and I was the in-store rep for that. Part of the incentive program for this was to give preferred parking to the employees who participated in the ridesharing.

Well, it was summer and it was very hard on me to stand in the heat 8 hours a day, not to mention boring; but I decided, just like you, to show him! So I would smile and greet and dance a little and hum and sing in the doorway, much to the customers' delight; and one day, the new store manager-to-be came to scope out his soon-to-be-store, and he saw me doing this unheard-of job, and being very pleasant about it. He was incognito, but he asked me what my "position" was, and I told him, "I'm the greeter."

So inside he goes and sees an former friend/co-assistant manager from their earlier days together in a store from a different region, and SHE gave him the real scoop on what was going on and why I had been assigned this punishment duty.

I was immediately promoted to Customer Service Manager with a raise of $2.50 per hour!

So hang in there and keep doing what you're doing! I don't know what the labor laws are like in your area, but they're pretty strict here.

Nos, this guy sounds like an asshole of the first order. If I were you, I'd check with the Ministry of Labour and ask them if your employer can just suddenly add menial jobs like this to your job without any warning, compensation or agreement. My brother had a boss like this and they bullied him (knowing he didn't know how to stand up for himself) and they ended up firing him for something stupid. I was furious when I found out and I'm helping him launch a lawsuit against these turd coloured dogs for Wrongful Dismissal. We found out that this company has paid out over $500,000 in Wrongful Dismissal lawsuits over the past several years. (My brother and me are at the opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to standing up for yourself).

I'd say from the sounds of it he's just a grown up version of a school yard bully and you need to find out what your Rights are and stand up to the prick. He's probably trying to make you quit because if he tries firing you without just cause, you can sue his ass off.

    Let us know what happens!

I am with Mary and AGuest. I would check out your labor board or board of ministry, whatever it is in your area. I would definately find out if he is doing something illegal by doing this. I would not quit. I would just look for another job after you get married and then after you find another job, I would sue him for back pay --- he changed your job description without your permission ... does this require undue stress on you in order to fulfill your regular duties or did you have so much extra time in the day that he needed to find more work for you to do in order to not have lay offs?

Hey all! You wanted me to keep you posted, so here's the latest. Today, at 1:00, they're going to be teaching me how to build crates to ship panels! Sounds like fun! (sarcasm).

When I got my shitty raise, I was told I would be assigned this job. This is getting really stupid.
