I started the double-life thing when I was 14, all the way up until 18 when I left. It was incredibly stressful, especially when you still have a lot of dub programming instilled into your brain. I was always worried about getting caught going out on dates. After I turned 18, I just didn't give a shit anymore.

Yeah, I lived a double life, but I was never liked by the elders at the hall though, because my other life always seemed to come to light through witness kids getting a conscience and telling about how they had partied with me.
I also remember several times, going to parties when I was df'd and seeing witness kids there, drunk, or stoned, or dancing naked, and they wouldn't talk to me because I was df'd. Ironic, because I wasn't the one laying on the floor with a joint in my mouth.

I used to get p'd off at all the elders kids etc that led double lives then looked down on me because I never bothered to hide the stuff I was doing, if someone asked me about it I would tell them, people just stopped asking me about it.

I am leading a double life now -- at the hall being quite a good person etc . - away from the hall heavy drinking, engaging in Oral sex etc. - even gambling

I made sure I followed all of their rules until the end when I DAed myself... but I had always doubted their teachings... so my "double life" occured only in my thoughts.

All Jw's live a double life! No way can anyone possibly live strictly according to the g.b.
Don't be deluded. Nobody can live up to those standards. "Don't joke, don't have normal sex, don't talk to anyone who opposes our religion, don't go to the Ymca, don't vote, don't think, don't read the bible and find meaning in it, don't use common sense, don't question, don't doubt, don't use the internet, don't use cell phones, don't listen to modern music, don't show affection, don't say hello to apostates, don't play sports, don't join groups of any kind, don't give an inch. Don't, don't don't.....
Who lives up to those standards? Who could possibly? To do any of those things (and then some) makes you a double life leader and suspicious and wrong!
What Jw can do anything but lead a double life?

I can't recall having heard the term "double life" until I was chatting here a few days ago. I had to ask what the person meant.
And by their definition, I suppose I lived a double life for a while. I was still attending meetings & going door to door, but I was smoking grass & chasing girls & drinking while underage & doing a few other things which were on the verbotten list.
I don't think I was pious or judgemental in my treatment of others. And I certainly didn't shun family or friends just because they were no longer attending meetings. I just didn't broadcast my recreational pursuits to the whole congregation.
