Since evolution has caused our species to have bigger and better brains as time went on,,will we eventually evolve beyound any need for religion???

As long as there is sickness, death, and problems, man will IMO always look up to the sky for hope.

    I wont.

    Bls,

    I agree.

I think eventually our whole species will evolve enough to not have any need of it. If our brain keep getting smarter and smarter,,there will be no need for god even to be considered as a creator,, than for us now to beleive in the tooth fairy.

I think we will keep evolving greater awareness,,perhaps up to a certain point,,but just where that point?

I don't think this really has to do with a physical evolution, maybe more of an intellectual evolution. Hell, I no longer feel as if I need religion to fulfill my life. I can do that myself.

Don't forget that along with the evolution comes child-rearing. If a kid is not raised religiously, then he will learn the necessary coping skills and probably will never come to be a god-worshipper.

The way the world's children are raised can work much faster than waiting on evolution.

    Nos,

When I said evolution I meant in all its forms. I think we can evolve enough as a species intellectually,,to where the idea will automatically seem crazy.

Interesting, so what you're saying is it would be built into our instinct. Not sure about that, but then again, I never studied evolution. I never seemed to care too much what was before my time, or what's ahead of my time. All that matters is I'm here now.

Put it another way - is there a need to believe it will or will not happen? That will tell you if the religious consciousness is still there.

Some are quite optimistic regarding the potential, but often times this just turns into a subtler form of religious thinking among the "spiritual but not religious" crowd. One thing we can say, it seems pretty obvious that it is a minority at this point. A lot people who do not buy into any formal religion has the same mindset, it doesn't even matter if the content is non-religious in nature. One can build prisons with all kinds of thoughts and emotions.
