  Witnesses on their way out of the org, or at least considering it, are often freaked out by "apostate" testimonies of ex-Witnesses. If you are dealing with someone like that, or you are in that situation, read some stories by former Mormons, it will help bypass the false guilt:

  The "Investment Paradigm" described in the above link should hit home with most JWs:

  In its simplest form the "Investment Paradigm" (IP) predicts the typical Mormon's reaction to 'real world facts' based on his/her emotional investment in Mormon theology. So it follows that if one is heavily invested in Mormonism, that individual will be reluctant to give non-Mormon sources credence. In fact, the heavily invested Mormon will actively avoid anything that will rock the theological boat...Instead of blindly rejecting "evil" books, I feel that Mormons ought to consider information from all sources. After all, the church is bold enough to declare itself the sole provider of truth on the planet. I think a claim of this magnitude should be able to withstand all assaults...why are Mormons so afraid?...Once the investment is sufficiently capitalized, the heavily invested LDS member will work his entire life to protect the investment, living a life of ever- increasing investment protection...

Former Jehovah's Witnesses TOP 20 WEB RESULTS out of about 13,800. Mormons outnumber JW's,yet there MORE overall per capita disgruntled ex JW web pages.

  I think honest dubs who might be questioning would find ex-Mormon stories to be very enlightening.

  I agree, - I went to ex-Mormon sites before I even knew of exJW's sites. My son's first new friends made, after he stopped attending mtgs. - were Mormons! He's a freeride mountain biker and for the best terrain for the sport, you head to Utah of course. He went on a two week road trip with these new friends and I worried he'd come back baptised a Mormon. I researched for the full two weeks that he was gone - and I was amazed at all I was learning - the similarities to the concerns and problems of Mormons w/ JW's were striking. I printed up notebooks full of db's to share with my son so he'd know more about these new friend's beliefs. Now, he's on a "mission" of his own, to convince THEM to think for themselves and examine their upbringing as he did.

  Only after I'd researched ex-Mormons, did I even THINK to look up ex-JW's..........and for that, and all of you, I am grateful.

  Not to be the odd man out, but thats is like saying show jews ex-catholic pages to help them. It is nonsense. Another thing is help them out of what another stupid religion? I have not heard of a religion that is not inheirently stupid. They are all fantasy for adults. Why would you feel compelled to show someone that they are believe a high brow fairy tale. Just because it hurts them you may say. My reply is most religions hurt people actively. The all rationalize that the hurting is for someones own good. What amazes me is how good JWs are at pissing people off. I think it should be examined in depth. Because I notice an unuseually high level of angst.

  I can't rationaly see how a person would be angry at a religion more than they would be angry at a government. If I ever left JWs it would never hurt my feelings any more than some guy running the country into the ground. ANy exjws here wana explain the anger you hold against people outside of the ones that you met in person. I mean that is what you are saying take a stranger a JW that is doing okay then help them leave. Why?

  Randy, these stories were great, and the parallels are amazing. I hope everyone reads at least the first 4 listed.

  I have used examples from the WT side to show error to Mormons, and vice-versa. These stories look like great springboards for discussions with JWs, exposing the same patterns of thinking which preserve being deceived.

  WHY, IT IS SO IMPORTANT TO MAKE COMPARISIONS / CONNECTIONS WITH OTHER CULTS.As soon as the client sees the striking similarity of tactics with the other cults it will click with them.

  That's what happened to myself and many others.I was truly amazed that the moonies call their deceptive protocol of lying:"heavenly deception".How this rings and resonates so closely with the Watchtower's;"theocratic warfare".

  Also TWD and HD are all rationalizations to explain why God lies. Everyone lies. People are told not to lie usually by religion. Even ancient Egyptians thought lying was immoral. In JC (judeochristianity) God lies and Satan supposedly lies. The hypocrisy invents these little buzzwords. A holy institution in theory should be devoid of lies? I have no idea where this came from because if you read the bible God DOES NOT CARE!

  JC religions should stop lying and admit lying is a biased sin. The JWs and Moonies seem to know this and have rationalized it for every day members instead of leaving it in the realm of bible characters that God did not care about their morality. I would like anyone that believes in JC theology to explain how making a lying protocol is wrong. Also compared to allowing lies to be a sin and forgiving them, and then go outside to society and look at how lying is considered normal.
