    (((((Lady Lee & Blondie))))

I was for several years a shift worker and learnt a few basic techniques.

    • Don't drink a lot of water before you go to bed at night. Your brain will trigger you after about 2-3 hrs to go to the bathroom.
    • No Cheese for dinner (indigestion will also wake you up)
    • No afternoon naps / cat naps/ tv couch naps ! ..it just breaks your routine.
    • Loose bed clothing,,,if you're a roller like me you'll twist all up and wake up to adjust and get comfortable.
    • Glass of water at the bedside (if your thirsty a uick sip close by is better than getting up).
    • NEITHER TOO HOT OR TOO COLD (another excuse to wake up)
    • No digital clocks (the display is bright and distracts you)
    • Ticking clocks (listening to the ticking is better than counting sheep)
    • Think about a novel you want to write (each night start at chpt 1...eventually you'll trigger your mind to shutdown at a point)
    • Cap the snorer..if your dog, cat or spouse snores...fix it !!! Theres nothing worse than listening to the cresendo and or gakking or breathing (I know this because my dear wife tells me when I do it.)

    Bless you all.

PS I once took medication that contained some or other thingy that caused insomnia. The Doctor found a generic that didn't have the particular chemical in it...maybe worth exploring.

    Kind Regards

Sorry to hear you are in so much pain Lady Lee & Blondie. I don?t know if they are doing this where you live but at the moment in Scotland they are doing a drug trial on a derivative of cannabis for chronic pain sufferers. All perfectly legal and above board. I have heard that the results are supposed to be quite encouraging ? I am not sure how you could find out about this type of thing in your area.

My thoughts are with you both,

    L

Why not give good ol' cannabis a try? What do you have to lose if you are already taking prescription narcotics and even those are not working? Sure, it's illegal, but you have a moral right as a pained human being to seek out relief. Cannabis is not nearly as habit-forming or damaging as commercial drugs. It provides great pain relief, and its sleep-inducing qualities are unequalled, unless you prefer commercial sleeping pills and their long, hazy hangover. You don't even have to smoke it, as it can be cooked into delicious food. Finally, let's face it, it's fun.

As a person prone to sleepless nights, this stuff has unfailingly provided me with night after night of beautiful, uninterrupted slumber while relieving stress and low-back pain. Give it some thought.

    Thanks everyone.

Nadsam, sorry to say, done that already.

Last I checked, cannabis is still illegal in the US, with some very small, very small exceptions for the use for cancer/glaucoma.

I tried the neurontin last night and it seems to have helped. some. Neurontin is not addictive.

    Blondie (hoping it keeps working)

Knowing me I would probably choke on the smoke (allergies)

well the codeine knocked me out for 8 hours of blissful sleep

and the pain is back to normal levels

I will be talking to my doctor about how to deal with a pain crisis

and Thanks Blondie I have the page opened (without the music) and will check it out.

well I am taking estrogen (Premarin) and yup that is the time of life but once I started the Premarin I was fine for sleep. I will look into the other two because I've never heard of the benefits of either

Most of us are estrogen dominant. Ask your doctor about Progesterone (Provera). It balances the estrogen and progesterone ratio.

    Glad you slept last night.
