OK, back to the African/American issue. My husband in 8th generation South African. We have two children. Can they get African American scholarships, etc.? Why or why not. This one confuses us all the time. They are more African American than a person of color (?) who has been here for 3-4 generations? My husband has been here 6 years.

    Just wondering...

Sizable amount of Seminole, Cherokee and Choctaw. Lots of Scottish. Some English. Some Pennsylvania Dutch. And I wonder whether there is some African blood because I always have felt so drawn to the culure and comfortable with it.

I have a theory that we will tend to be drawn the cultures of our ancestors. They liked certain things and since we have some of their genes we often like those same things. Music is one example. When I was a small child I was obsessed with bagpipe music as well as Celtic music. I loved anything Scottish.

German, Danish, Scottish, French, and a tiny bit of Native American but the family story keeps changing about which tribe. I always thought it was Cherokee but my sister says she always thought it was Sioux and then someone else did some research and said it was Waxhau so I don't know and I probably never will unless a miracle happens.
