The bottom line is: if you want peace, both sides have to talk.
"We don't talk to terrorists" sounds great but it gets you nowhere. Just keeps the fighting going.
I guess it's good policy if you have interests in arms dealing though or your friends do.
A "War on Terror" can never be won ... it is self-perpetuating unless you fight very carefully so as not to create more and so far, that isn't happening.

The problem as I see it is that a lot of these are religion based. A lot of us have tried talking to jws explaining the holes in their belief system and why it is harmful and got nowhere, how much further do you think you're going to get with, for example, Al Quida extremists who are convinced of their religious need to punish the sins of the west.
