Well, not exactly my taste. But since it was obviously intended to be bad taste it's kind of comforting...

LT, you know I'm not indifferent to the Gospels' Jesus -- whatever his relation to the (hypothetical) historical Jesus. I sincerely feel that the worst scorn against him by unbelievers amounts to nothing compared to the ridicule his so-called followers have heaped upon his head by silly imagery, doctrine, preaching, canticles and so on. I feel the mockery is aimed at the caricature rather than at the Gospels' character.

Alas, I must confess that I agree...

"Lord, spare me from your followers..."

    LT,

I am glad that you enjoy your beliefs and feel strongly about, it was not my intent to offend you. To a certain crowd I am sure this entire site is offensive. Often we cannot control who is offended or what others find funny, that, IMO, is one of the beautiful things about humor. It was posted in "jokes" because I thought some people here would find it funny.

For those of us who believe Jesus is who he said he is, it is offensive and very inappropriate. For those who think he was just a man or a fable then I guess ridiculing another human is just par for the course in today's world. Whatever.

One can see how strongly one is attached to a belief by one's reaction to the Jesus test. A belief, any belief, is just that - it is not reality. If you want reality investigate what is there before any belief is accepted.

    Derek:
I'm on dial-up, and it wont load, but I understand from the link that it's something about Santa. From the context, I assume it's something simiar being done to him.

If someone jumped in and declared offense because they genuinely believed Santa to be their buddy, then so be it, I'd apologise to them and back off. I might be surprised, at first, given it's Santa...
That having been said. Folks generally have a very good idea where I stand on this issue.
I'm broad-minded, and will often have a laugh (hence why I opened the thread in the first place), but just had to register my feelings on this one.

    Poppers:
This has less to do with belief structures and more to do with personal relationships.

I know and have met some of the folks on this board, some of whom have had some nasty shyte happen to them in life. I would feel upset if someone made a game about them, especially if it were mocking this aspect of their lives.
Do I need to take this discussion to it's logical conclusion?.....
