How sad. Sorry for your loss.

I think the whole "it was his time to go" thing is just a coping mechanism some people use. I guess some people find it comforting somehow, but I'm with you. There is never any real comfort at a time like this. We all just try our best to get through these things however we can. Sounds like you have a really good support system at work though. (cyberhug)

    That sucks

About a year ago, one of my work colleagues died suddenly. It was strange having a meeting with someone one week and then poof ... they are gone!

He wasn't working on our department anymore but had worked with us for about 1-2 years prior to moving. The communication about it was *very* poor ... it's not the sort of thing that you should be notified of by EMAIL for gods sake !?!?!

So sad, Sally. I am sorry to hear about that poor man. I am hoping the owner of the multi-million dollar company you work for does a little something for those kids he left behind,

What an unbelievable, freaky thing to happen, and so tragic!

A few years ago, when I was still "in" a brother almost died........he was sitting at the table and suddenly blood began gushing from his nose, like someone turned a hose on.............they couldn't stop the bleeding.........rushed him to the hospital........apparently, the large artery behind the nose had detereorated and suddenly the wall gave way! They ended up cauterizing it, and doing something else, I forget........but, he and his wife had only been married for about a month when all this started happening. It was soooo frightening, one day you're sitting there and suddenly you're almost dead! Just made me realize not to take anything for granted...and to live and enjoy each and every moment while I have it.

I am very sorry Sally...that is really sad.

It was kind and thoughtful of the owner to be there for everyone, he sounds like a very nice person.

I couldn't even listen to the woman who was telling people that 'when it's your time to go, it's your time.'

Of course...we always have the other side of the coin with people like the woman above...I have never understood the comfort in that statement, but I hear people say it all of the time. It's the last thing you want to hear when you are grieving. I guess people just don't know what to say when unexpected death occurs...

    Sally,

Sorry to hear about your friend. As you know, i just went through it too and if there was one thing that REALLY pissed me off it was that "it was his time to go crap!" Where do people get that? ERGH! And if there is such a thing, WHY? Why when there are so many a**holes in the world, do the good people have to go? If there is a God, doesn't he already have ENOUGH good people? As you can probably tell, I am having a rough time with this one. I hope your friend's family find some comfort somewhere and that you do too.
