On getting back from the Dallas Apostafest I was able to see the new release from Saturday's convention program that my mother attended. It's a 32 page brochure entitled, "Keep On The Watch!" with the subtitle, "For What? Why Is It Especially Urgent Now?"

On the cover is an old man (no doubt to emphasize the "lateness" of the times; very interesting symbolism!) looking concerned while reading a newspaper. On a table is a large opened Bible and to his left a globe (again, fitting symbolism). The contents of the brochure seem to be similar to all the latest dumbed down publications, ie the "Require" brochure. Subjects include:

    Where Is This World Heading?

    What Does It All Mean?

    Where Is Your Life Heading?

The Hour Of Judgement Has Arrived! (which, of course, could be proclaimed by any Christian group since the 1st century)

A New World According To God's Promise

"They Took No Note" (scare tactics which highlight the Flood and Sodom and Gomorrah)

"That You May Not Enter Into Temptation"

"Above All Things Have Intense Love"

Interestingly, the last two subjects in the brochure appear to be WT article reprints; the paragraphs, twenty in all, are numbered unlike the rest of the brochure, and there are questions at the end of the articles. My guess is that those articles will be discussed at the book study.

There does not appear to be anything new in the brochure, just the typical fear-mongering, millenarian hysteria and urgent cry to start studying with the dubs and, if you are already a dub, do more. One thing did stand out, though. On page three, under the subject "Where Is The World Heading?" there is a caption entitled "The Religious Scene" which reads:

Churches back factions in war. Clergy charged in genocide. Priests sexually exploit young people; church cover-up. Decline in attendence; church buildings sold.

    Pot, kettle, black!

Sounds like recycled info, as usual.

Thanks for the heads up on what's to come at the assembly.

Kind of reminds you of your friendly local Kingdom Hall, eh?

It amazes me that they can actually read this stuff and fail to make a connection.

My mother didn't attend the Friday or Sunday session (it wasn't her week) so I have no idea what other release(s) were distributed. If I was a JW a release like this would be very dissappointing to me. It's like an amalgamation of bad WT and Awake articles with absolutely depth to it whatsoever.

The days of "complex" new releases appear to be over.

This takes me back thirty-some years! What I don't get is how those who have been through the cycle several times can keep their enthusiasm and expectation up. It's all just recycled nonsence.

    Hi Logans

"They Took No Note" (scare tactics which highlight the Flood and Sodom and Gomorrah)

It doesn't happen to mention anything about the recent 120years scandal, does it?

The last chapter about showing love - does it actually say that or is that just the title. "Above all else" - so if you show love you don't have to keep stupid WT rules?

I posted earlier that there was a re-release Friday of the "Good News for All Nations" booklet with 96 languages in the English edition. There is map of the world on the inside covers supposedly so you can have the person point out which country they live in.

Blondie....interesting. Boy, that's an easy new release. I would have been dissappointed in that too!

    Sirona,

It doesn't happen to mention anything about the recent 120years scandal, does it?

The only "scandal" about the 120 year thing was in the minds of a bunch of ex-JWs who read into it. It's SO not an issue.

The last chapter about showing love - does it actually say that or is that just the title. "Above all else" - so if you show love you don't have to keep stupid WT rules?

To be fair, the phrase "above all else" does not negate other obligations. "Above all else" a parent should provide love for their children, but there are other things a good parent still must do (financial provisions, guidence, etc.) There's nothing inherently wrong with the title.

My gawd, how lame does this publication sound. So glad I no longer am in the club, taking worthless books home every year and feeling bad about reading the first 3 pages and losing total interest in finishing!

should have been a chapter on Keeping Watch.... of the pedophiles sitting next to you in your local KH!

Every year, there is a new crappy brochure released. Wasn't there a time where brochures weren't released every year, and nice hard cover publications were? I got so sick of seeing a new brochure every year, and a lousy new tract.
