Are non-trinitarians polytheistic or monotheistic?

Funny how the far majority of Christian denominations (containing the majority of theological scholars) seem to settle on the "Deity of Christ" and the "Trinitarian God" as foundational doctrines.

Personally I came to believe both those things before reading up on it (outwith merely the bible), but that's another story.
Is "tiredness" a valid reason to discredit something?
(Bearing in mind that we're discussing Christianity, here, not world religions)

LT, you kilt wearin, big smilin, friendly bastard bud of mine........now I'm a gonna chew out yer arse for a bit here fella.

Is Jesus God or not? You don't think that's not a foundational doctrine? Who do I pray to if I don't know?

To me.....that was the BIGGEST and most important doctrine of all.......wheather Jesus was god or not. Without knowing that.....other doctrines were petty. Yes....I know the primary christian doctrine was belief in Christ as savior and that salvation was through faith in Jesus in which god would grant us his grace. Until I knew if Jesus was god.......this didn't matter deep in my heart, but on the outside it did.

And yes.....I got tired. Maybe tired isn't the word. Maybe discouraged to the point of not believing anymore because god would never answer my prayers as to whether he and Jesus were the same or not. I had other questions about things and prayed for answers to these also........I NEVER got an answer to ANY of these questions from him..........only left with confusion. I don't like that.

After the discouragment, I looked into "the other side of the coin"......but I'll stop here with that.

But you know as well as I, that it's not about you, or me, or what we do or dont like.
It's a relationship with Jesus, pure and simple.
I suspect that you've had all the answers at your fingertips the whole time.

    Is Jesus God?
Thomas certainly thought so, as an eye witness.

    Is that a foundational doctrine?
    Sure.

    Who should you pray to?
You can pray to any of them, if you wish (as did Stephen), but the "Father" seems to be the main dude.

I have to agree with you. The deity of Christ was the main thing for me, too. It was this dawning realisation (that Jesus was more than I'd been taught) that preceded my epiphany.

Further to that, I have found (from experience) that this is acceptable.
There comes a time when that which has been learned in the head has to be applied by the heart.

So, when are ya gonna stop tickling, and start chewing?

To those who try to minimize Jesus' role by claiming others have been called god (Moses, the judges, etc.) or sons of God (angels) I would ask them why practically the whole New Testament centers on the person of Jesus Christ? There is something about Jesus that makes him more than Moses, the judges and angels as the Book of Hebrews shows. Why would God send just another messenger like all the previous ones before? How would that make Jesus unique?

And I would like to ask why the O.T. was totally silent about him? ( if your gonna try and use prophecies from there to prove his existence in the O.T., be ready to prove they were about HIM.)
