    Hi Valis

Welcome back and glad to hear you had a great time.

fly fishing and fly tying was one of shotguns passions as a kid. He was never happier fly fishing in those big salmon holes along the river.

I suspect fishing for you is a very happy time as well.

    sincerely

Sirius..some will go for a big fish fry I will have soon, some will go for grilling, CSG likes her's with just lemmon, better, S&P in tin foil. Some will go for trout almondine as we stopped near the Texas/Oklahoma border on the way home at one of these roadside stores...I love that place! Cheap candies and all kinds of nutty goodness..

AND some will be baked in various and sundry ways...all of them are frozen and in my fridge at the moment..

    Valis,

That is a beautiful stretch of water. I love the mist rising... It looks like you took home a freezerfull, too, and that's great. Carmel is spoiled (I bet he throws back anything under 20lbs.), but those salmon are a different game entirely. Were they taking flies off the surface, or were you nymphing? (big opening for the comedians here).

I'll be fishing over father's day weekend with Rachel's dad and brothers. Less than two hours away, but tucked up into the foothills of the Cascades, in national forest land. The Dolly Varden are voracious, and hammer whatever you throw them. After we limit, we'll go flyfishing for the native rainbows, feisty little buggars. I'll post the pics, in a none too subtle effort to entice you up here next year...

    Welcome back!

    Steve

eh Steve...I am not very good, an entire lack of patience on my part, at dry flying. I was using tiny white nymphs that looked like the hatch of may flies that papened like clock work about 6:30 in the evening. Otherwise I was using a moss green scud that lookedlike this, but modified without the tail, cuz I took the clippers to it..I helped it sink a little faster in the running water...fishing between 6 or 7 feet in front of me.

also using fluorocarbon 2lb line for a tippet..since it is made of 90% water it is impossible for the fish to see and less hesitant about having a nibble..The water is so clear you can watch the fly sink and watch the little bastards come chasing or just hammering the fly. Very exciting and much more challenging I think than using a bobber and just letting it run in the water..

I was born in that part of the world Valis, some of the pictures brings back some memories. One thing I do remember is the water is a bit chilly, but it feels great on a hot summer day. Nothing's better than fresh trout.

    Glad you're back.
