I still get a bit bleary eyed at REM singing Everybody Hurts. My first marriage nearly broke me mentally and emotionally, and this song was released around the time I had finally taken enough crap to leave her.

She always used to listen to Stock Aitken and Waterman crap, like Kylie Minogue (early days shite) and Jason Donovan, so I have no issues turning the radio off if that crap comes on!!

    Bull!

Every song has meaning one way or another when you're feeling sorry for yourself. I tend to just let it stay if it's on the radio and make a concious effort to play 'meaningful' music to death until it's part of the present instead of the past.

If an ex is an ex it's because they wer'nt right for me, so i'm pleased the relationship's changed to just friendship... if I still got really upset when I heard 'our songs' that'd be bad news as it'd start alarm bells ringing and imply that I wished I had that relationship back......

I don't actually have any sad memories connected to relationships and music;99% of my ex's are friends still; but to be reminded of happy times when the present is crap is a bit much to take lol.

"I think you're already leavin' - - feels like your hand is on the door.......If you're gone--- Maybe its time to come home....there's an awful lot of breathing room - but I can hardly move"

I can't remember the artist. I had an ex play it on my voicemail and I went back for a while. Turns out it was very insincere and I should have never looked back. Now when I hear it I get angry and turn it off.

"Don't Shed a Tear" by Paul Carrack...This is the FIRST song you should listen to after a breakup. The message is "I'm not missing anything, I'm a lot better off now."

"Train in Vain" by the Clash...This should be the second...
