I hope this John Foran spends several years in prison. And if he has good behavior, send him some vaseline.

I would call the police.
I couldn't agree more with that. And shouldn't parents do this? Or are you saying the elders should call for the parents?
And yes, of course, I am aware of the creeps who threaten parents with trouble if they do call.
I guess what my point was what would you do if you were the person having to deal with it in the congregation - what would you do?

Yes.

Yes.

Call the police.
I have had personal experiences in this area and, as a child, I definitely know how impossible it feels to tell anyone anything. Now that I am grown up and realize that molestation and rape are NOT the fault of the victim, I wish that an adult would have stepped in, taken responsibility to do something, and called the police on my behalf. In my opinion it is much better to investigate 100 innocent people than to let 1 guilty person get away with sexual abuse. If I were to be accused of some type of sexual abuse of a child, I would rather have the police doing everything they had to to investigate me, than to just assume there's nothing going on. Interrogation and suspicions are worth it and I would gladly accept scrutiny if it means that the cops will take the same stance when the next child comes forward against their abuser. If I had to live the rest of my life with people staring at me that's okay, as long as the police take an aggressive stance against child abuse. This is one area where I think you kind of have to err on the side of protecting the victims because they cannot protect themselves.

Either way the entire "two witness" rule is so subjective it can easily be misused, even with the new additions.
Actually the society has made it quite clear that seperate incidents can be used for DFing. If it is misused it would have to be out of an elder's ignorance or willful deviance. Not a whole lot can be done about that.
As far as calling the police, I agree, but unfortunately the society only requires elders in states that legally require reporting to notify the authorities. In all the other states, they leave it up to the parents.

WELL I WILL SAY IT AGAIN.
SEVERAL TIMES I HAVE POSTED THE CRIME OF MOLESTATION AND MY DAUGHTER, ON THIS FORUM.
SHE TOLD THE ELDERS ABOUT THE ELDER WHO MOLESTED HER AND THERE WERE 4 OTHER VICTIMS WHO ALSO TOLD THE SAME ELDERS ABOUT HIS MOLESTING THEM.
ONE WAS NOT A JW, SO (SHE WAS NOT EVEN CONSIDERED) AS A VICTIM.( I GUESS IF YOU ARE NOT A JW, THE WBTS AND ELDERS COULDN'T CARE LESS IF YOU ARE RAPED)
.THAT LEFT 4 JW'S ACCUSING THIS ELDER.
AT THE DIRECTION OF THE WBTS THEY DROPPED THE MATTER AND LEFT THE ELDER IN GOOD STANDING.
THIS TOOK PLACE IN EARLY 1991. SO IN MY OPINION THEY CAN TAKE THAT "RAPE THE FLOCK BOOK" AND SHOVE IT WHERE THE SUN NEVER SHINES.

I disagree... Ultimately the WBTS are responsible for those persons they decide to appoint to the position of Elder. If these people do not follow the WBTS directives then they could 'fire' the 'rogue' Elders if they wanted to. Nothing that happens in a local congregation is hidden from the WBTS. I have never seen another organization with more reports than the JWs, they fill out a form for everything.

That is terrible and I am sorry. And if serving as an elder I was told by the WTBTS to drop something like this I would have called the police myself.
In this case everyone of them is guilty to high heaven
again sorry

My child was molested by a 12 year old unbaptised publisher in the congregation. My son was three at the time.
The elders supported us untill we went to the police, then they supported the child who molested my child. They did not even talk to my son, said that they believed my childs molester.
Thought that my kid was making up stories, do they no know that kids can not make up stories about stuff they don't know.
They said that nothing could be done to my childs molester because he was not baptised. But they still took him out witnessing and to quickbuilds.
I was warned that if i told anyone I would be up for slander, told them they could disfellowship me for all I care but I would be letting all in the congregation with small kids know what he had done. The police backed me up with that.
You can have all the advise in the Elders Books but unless the elders do what they are supposed to do then it's all a bunch of crap.

They said that nothing could be done to my childs molester because...
And this is the reality of the problem. The elders cannot do anything. They are impotent (luv that word) regarding the situation. They are supposed to spiritual guides - that's it.
But JWs look to them for everything - as they are told to do.
Legal issues need to go to the law. The WTS is so busy covering its a$$ and protecting its reputation that it could care less about victims and their families.

Bill had emailed those getting silentlambs.org emails about Foran days ago.
As to there being more JW elders who are pedophiles, the organization itself has a policy which helps pedophiles hide their inclinations and past doings. Clearly there are also more Catholic priests who are pedophiles because of policies or doings that have helped them hide their doings too. We know there are about 24,000 pedophiles in Watchtower's own files for the U.S. and Western Europe. There's about 90,000 congregations earthwide. Statistics indicate there's a hidden pedophile in every third or fourth kingdom hall. Most always those JWs arrested for the crime are elders and some are ministerial servants. Hardly any are or have been NON-elders and ministerial servants, meaning regular JWs (called Publishers in Watchtower jargon).
