HE was parked on the right hand lane of the road but he had road cones set out. The only thing was that I was driving behind a large truck so I couldnt see them. The one thing I noticed though was that they did not have their safety lights on on the top of the truck wich I would have seen over the truck. I am wondering if there might not be something there.

I was not wearing my seat belt but I made it through ok.

Okay, you're damn lucky, and I'm gonna give you shit for not wearing your seatbelt. That thing saved me from going through the windshield when I got into an accident. Whenever people are in my vehicle, I demand that they wear a seatbelt. I always check and make sure they put it on. If by chance I forgot to pull the buckles up when I put the back seat back down, I will kick them out so I can fix it.

Wear your seatbelt, you might not be so lucky next time.

Hell, just for kicks open the yellow pages and look under Attorneys... there is a sht load of them who just loooove to get auto accident cases. Most will see you free for the first visit to evaluate the case and see if you have anything. Nothing to loose there. Also, take the time to make some notes on all of the details of the accident. Everything you can remember.

Bummer!!! What a tough place to be in right this minute!!!

Once, when I was young and dumb, I parked my car un an undesirable place in NYC and it was stolen. Come to find out, this car had depreciated to the point that I ended up paying two more years for a car I didn't have. Darn! I had better business sense next time around when I went to purchase the next car.

BINGO ! Get a free consultation from an attorney. They might take it on a contingency.

Me too. I wasn't wearing my seat belt when I was 19, and DID go through the windshield. Ended up with 119 stiches on my face.

There's got to be a solution to this so that you don't have to pay 4 years on a car that doesn't exist any longer. Can you talk to an attorney?

Yup... that is why I never buy new cars. I always buy them when they are about two years old. That way they still are under warranty, most of the bugs have been worked out of them, and most of the depreciation has already hit them. So I end up getting a very nice car for cheep. I've owned three cars in my life and I did this with all three of them. I usually try to get rental cars, off-lease or government fleet vehicles... the users of all of these cars are contractually obligated to keep them in good condition or face paying fines when they return them. Most of these cars are in like-new condition when they go up for sale... even have that "new" smell in them.

My last car I bought was about 2 1/2 years old and only cost me $4,500 (99 Ford Contour SE V6). I simply paid cash for it. Aside from that one payment I haven't had a car payment for over three years.
