Yiz, maybe we need to compare war combatants, that is your friends and my community acquaintances. The stories would differ. We have a legion post in our community and the stories you hear are not thumbs up. One fellow acquaintance use to pick-up body parts in Vietnam. Nightmares? Yes, indeed!
As to age, I remember giving a suggestion to a 20 year-old and I said, when your 30-35 get back to me about the things were talking about. Well, the15 years passed and when I asked the person if they remembered what I had said, the comment was, yes, the light bulbs came on at the age of 35. As I said, I too was once that age. True, some youngsters are mature at a young age but they don't have the experience. They may be equipped to fight but are they equipped to handle the blood and guts of their fellow buddies flying about? The people in my community who served in the war are not the same emotionally and mentally.
