The WT would make everything easy for themselves if they made everything a conscience issue -I know I have stated this before but it is so true. They would save any lawsuits, they would stop losing people, the Brothers would be happier , no DFings, no Judicials, less burden on the elders, brothers training their consciences - I just can not see a downside
WT makes everything a conscience issue

I agree totally and have wondered, in the past, why the society doesn't do that. Then I figured it out: if they did, they would lose control over the congregations. And control is the one thing that the old men in Brooklyn love. Sometimes I think that they love it more than they love Jehovah.

That would mean free will and to use their own minds , now we couldn't have that could we.

Yes Robyn you are correct - I am sure Ray Franz talks about it in his books . He pointed out that Grant Suiter at a Governing Body meeting said "Lets get to governing" it must be very difficult when one has power, and one loves power, to give it up. He also talks about making most things a conscience issue in Search Of Christian Freedom and alludes to it in C of C

They would loose control if they did not impose guidelines. Control equals ownership. If I can control your behavior, I can control your time, and if I can control your time, I can control your money.
All the Watch Tower Corporation has is ownership (control) of their followers. Without that, they have nothing and all is lost. What is the purpose of a high control group without the function of high control? The Watch Tower Corporation is a control company. Control is it's product, not it's goal. It's goal is to grow and to prosper financially. It's means to do that is people . . . people they can control.

Adding a twist to that, i remember when they said that just because something is a conscience matter, doesn't mean that you can do what you want. Is that twisted, or what?

Ahhhh but some would say, "My conscience allows me to defraud, overdrink, take drugs, etc."

Thanks for supplying the wt response. It's really none of the business of a religious body to make enforcements in those areas, unless they are the ones being defrauded. They can only make idealistic suggestions.

Well, the WTS would say that accepting a blood transfusion is a "personal choice." But that won't stop them from announcing from the platform that you have DA'd yourself, by your personal choice, of course.
