That depends on how long it took God to create the heavens and the earth . Alot of theologians believe in the six 24 hour days of creation but the fossil record does not support that at all .In my belief it took at least 6 thousand years, that is if a day is a thousand years as written in the bible . Scientists believe billions of years . When jesus said the meek will inherit the earth I think he was talking about the earth we live on. True it does say a new heavens and a new earth but I think it is because the earth is left in such a sad shape at the end that it has to be restructured to support life . I even think it possible the sun going super nova but somehow life still remains , who knows for sure but there is alot of symbolism of the earth being destroyed with fire and a long period of darkness with the sun being darkened , huge hail stones hitting the earth and people hiding in the earth . Lots of things could happen .
