What do you think?
Englishman.
Definately NOT!
There are highly intelligent people whose academic ability is lacking, IMHO

they are related but there is too many kind for us to be able to rate it (someone you feel like a perfect idiot can be a genious in specific matter) ...
Most of people do confuse knowledges (every kind) and intelligence ... but they are not the same, intelligence is related to how far and what you can do with your knowledge so again those 2 are related but then it is a question of ability to manage with it (degree of intelligence in specific and all the matter).
They are definitely not the same. In fact, many geniuses do horribly in school.
OK, I have a link here to a subject that intrigues me greatly: Emotional Intelligence.
I'd be interested in people opinions on this. I've known brilliant people who can be quite stupid in their interactions with others. I've known people of the lowbrow variety who can charm the birds out of the trees.
Takes all sorts I guess.

7. Validate other people's feelings. | Show empathy, understanding, and acceptance of other people's feelings. |
New age crap! Who comes up with these things?
Rule # 7 gets you nowhere and makes you a slave to the other person's feelings.

As part of studying dyslexia at uni, we talked about IQ tests and other types of tests of ability. It became clear then that we all have strengths and weaknesses mentally and that whilst an overall high score on an IQ test is considered "intelligent" that person could be below average in certain ways.
Dyslexia is a common example. That condition impairs a person but also gives them some great advantages over others too. In years gone by they'd be labelled "stupid" and now of course we know otherwise.
Intelligence isn't easily measured. It is my personal opinion that a so called intelligent person can "learn" to score more highly on an IQ test.

I think no, but they are much more often found together than not.
Absolutely not. Personal example: I sucked in school at anything other than very basic math, yet, I consider myself an extremely intelligent person.

I say no. Mostly because I have seen very intelligent people who are not Academic minded, whether that be in self discipline, or being receptive to varying modes of teaching. I hve also seen very good students that didn't have much in the way of plain old common sense.
Sincerely,
