Do You Think That Brooklyn Is Concerned About Apostafests?

Looking through some of the Society's earlier WT's, it does seems as though they tend to see apostates as lonely and isolated people. I can only find one reference to organised apostates in the WT.

So I wonder how they feel about the recent plethora of fests that are taking place?

It's certainly having a nullifying effect on the enforced isolation that they like to see resulting from disfellowshipping. I've now met literally hundreds of posters from sites such as this one, Kents and Slippy's and have also made some astonishingly good friends with many of them. Some of the fests are like Old Soldiers reunions!

So much for enforced isolation bringing us all to our senses..

They must be pretty peed off with it. Don't you realise that having turned your back on Jehovah you should be eating carob pods?

Engo, when I was Borg I recall talking to an elder over the WTS' concern that the "apostates were getting organized" - this was about '95. The discussion was over magazines that resembled the WT. The one comic relief was that "the apostates couldn't agree on where and when to meet and what their teachings would be". Now, thinking back, I can only assume that was conjecture. In my part of Oregon we have a fellow named John Warren from Witness Inc. NW who had sent out mailers (with a sticker for householders to put on their doors "No Visits by Jehovah's Witnesses Please"). The funny thing is that in about 6 months they fell off the doors. Later, on leaving, I went to see John, a very nice man, and I told him this. He chuckled and said we'll use stronger glue next time. Glen

    Hi E-Man,

Looking through some of the Society's earlier WT's, it does seems as though they tend to see apostates as lonely and isolated people. I can only find one reference to organised apostates in the WT.

The Society loves to paint ex-JWs as lonely and isolated in order to frighten and deceive the rank and file members. They spin it this way to make the members believe that there is no life outside the Big-O.

So I wonder how they feel about the recent plethora of fests that are taking place? ... It's certainly having a nullifying effect on the enforced isolation that they like to see resulting from disfellowshipping.

The Society likely does not care too much, except that they do not want their members finding out about how well ex-JWs are doing. Once JWs learn the truth about life outside the Big-O, the effects of Watchtower spin are nullified, as you point out.

BUT, also, the Society does believe that ex-JWs are highly organized, and they believe that our entire existence is dedicated to their demise. So, they do have concern about our activities. I have no doubt they send in loyal JWs they can trust to monitor and report back.

They must be pretty peed off with it. Don't you realise that having turned your back on Jehovah you should be eating carob pods?

I am sure they would love to see us suffer. To hedge their bets, they also use the spin that we are rejoicing now, only to howl and gnash our teeth when Armageddon arrives. Instead, their worst nightmares are coming true, because it is really the Watchtower leaders who will howl, weep, and gnash their teeth, as they witness their own lies coming to light, costing them their followers and cozy life at Bethel.

I don't think they give a hoot, if you ask me.

I have to disagree with you there. Would-be exiting dubs would find association with other ex's quite exciting. In particular, this would apply when they are looking to fill in the temporary hole that sudden non-association with JW's can leave. Brooklyn doesn't want apostates finding each other, they want DF'd persons to be gagged forever! Englishman.

I understand what you're saying but I don't think they're "concerned about apostafests". So what if a couple of thousand people get together once a year to meet one another? That won't keep an average person happy from day to day. Unless exes forge friendships on a day to day basis with one another, it's like going to a yearly convention. It may be wonderful but such meetings are not going to give you a social life......Now, if exJWs could LOCALLY get together on a regular basis and enjoy friendships, this would irritate Brooklyn and the local elders more!

WTS has a perfect explaination for apostates and "apostafests" (a term almost unknown inside the JW bubble), but it only works for JWs:

    1) Apostates are deceptive and cunning using half and twisted truths to convince you. Thus the self-fulfilling prophecy is that when "apostates" do catch a JW with a fact, the JW thinks "aha, you won't use that trick with me, I've been warned you would do that!"

    2) Apostates are unorganized and can't agree on anything except not to go out in service (which every JW knows is a command from Jesus). But can you tell me of any JW exile that wants to re-form a similiar control group based on the one they just got out of? Regardless, another self-fulfilling prophecy that "proves" that "apotates" don't have Jah's spirit because they are "not organized".

But apostafests, and the more powerfully, JWD are a perfect example of "organic" organization. People going out of their way to meet others with a similiar background, dealing with their negative experiences and trading that with positive affirmation that there are others like us. Motivated to meet, on-line and otherwise not by fear or mass-mentality, but by equal support among each other.

JWs only wish that was what got them to go to a convention.

With all this being said (regarding organization), I thought I'd mention something that I always mean to bring up (and I don't mean to change the subject either).

    Anyway:

I own an advertising agency and am part owner of a web press and several offset printing presses. I've often wondered if we could put those things to good use. Obviously paper, ink and labor costs money, but should anyone get any bright ideas we can certainly throw them up for discussion sometime.

As for the actual topic of this thread :)

I think the WTBTS fear us more because they know that we could become more organized than we are. I don't think they are worried about our current status, but I believe they think we're gaining the capabilities of doing some real damage. Even to the extent of attempting to be 'ahead' of us with damage control plans. Maybe we should sneak someone into bethel to snag that list of things they think we might do, lol.

of course I say this not knowing exactly how organized we actually are. Maybe I'm just not in the 'inner circle'
