Attitude is everything. That goes for most things in life, and sex is no exception. Viewing porn could very well be good (or even just *nuetral*) to most healthy people, but for people with bad or unhealthy attitudes about sex, I'm sure it can be harmful as well.

Every fiber of my upbringing tells me it just-has-to-be-hurtful, but my logical side ask me "what's the big deal, it's just sex afterall?".

FlyingHighNow, people objectify people. By the time a person is old enough to get their hands on a Playboy, their moms and dads and sisters and brothers and neighbors and especially their TVs and cosmo magazines have already taught them far more about viewing people as objects than Hugh Hefner ever could.

To me there is a big difference between Playboy magazine and the smut that is seen on the internet or Hustler type mags. Pictures that are tasteful can be pretty, but smut is just gross.

I'll just say that it is a problem in many marriages and relationships. I have my own personal experiences with it as well. Fun is not always healthy. We'd like it to be but it isn't always. Defend it to the death if you want. Doesn't change the fact it hurts far more people than it will ever help.

Something doesn't become a fact just because you declare it to be so. Who exactly is hurt by it, and how do you know that this is "far more" than the number helped by it?

I am talking about internet porn. I am talking about Playboy, etc. I see how they have taught many boys and men to objectify women and children in an unhealthy way.

Children? Are you comparing Playboy with child porn? Don't you see a substantial and qualitative difference between the two?

When I say objectify, I mean that they learn to see women and sometimes teens and children as lovedolls with no real worth other than as sex partners.

Where's your evidence for this? Have you conducted a wide-scale survey? And again, why are you comparing adult and child porn as if they were equivalent?

Some people feel sick after viewing it.

Most don't. Is what you really mean that you feel sick? Fine, then don't watch it.

They may initially feel excitement, but when that's overwith then there comes the reality that those women in those pictures are actual people with feelings.

I thought you said watching porn causes people to see women as "lovedolls". If at the end, they realise these women "are actual people with feelings" then where's the problem?

They also realize that many of them are not healthy adults who choose to model for porn because they enjoy it and think it's a groovy way to make a living. Some are forced to model for it.

Most porn does involve healthy consenting adults - at least the kind I look at. If the industry was more tightly regulated, would you be OK with it?

I've said it before and I will say it again. The naked human body is beautiful. Both sex and making love are beautiful.

I am not against tasteful art. What I am tired of is people trying to promote the idea that sleazy porn, with models of questionable willingness and age, is just a dandy way to have fun and pass the time.

Apart from the clause highlighted in red - which I'm sure you'll agree most people are against, viewers of porn or not - what exactly is the difference between "tasteful art" and "sleazy porn"?

I am tired of the damage porn does in people's lives. I'd have to write a book to tell you all the things I base my conclusions on. Trust me, the book would have a number of chapters.

You don't need to write a book, but I'd appreciate a few paragraphs explaining where you got your information, why you equate Playboy - i.e. pictures of naked adult women - with child pornography, and whether the issues of willingness and age are the only problems you have, or if you also object to pornography involving only informed consenting adults.

...the world is far more extensive than the boundries of our western Judeo-Christian ethics and morality...and those boundries extend to sexuality as well.

Who is to say what is right or wrong? As long as it is done for pleasure and no one is forced or injured; what is the harm? Who is going to impose judgement or restriction on 2 consenting adults?

"what ever floats your boat" ....I will add to this statement that a bit of discretion and privacey goes a long way.
