All kidding aside, I do see potential dangers in viewing adult pornography. I also see potential dangers in eating chocolate.

FlyingHighNow, people objectify people. By the time a person is old enough to get their hands on a Playboy, their moms and dads and sisters and brothers and neighbors and especially their TVs and cosmo magazines have already taught them far more about viewing people as objects than Hugh Hefner ever could.

I never said the porn industry is the only cause of the sexual ojectifying of women and children. Mom's and sisters though? What kind of homelife did you have? I can't imagine your mother and sisters telling you to value women for their sexuality only. I hope they didn't anyway.

Pictures that are tasteful can be pretty, but smut is just gross.

Nudes in art can be very lovely. Not all pictures of naked people are tasteless. Playboy does not equal a healthy portrayal of women just because the photos are airbrushed though.

"A woman reading Playboy feels a little like a Jew reading a Nazi manual." Gloria Steinem

"Doesn't change the fact it hurts far more people than it will ever help." Flyin High,
Based on my own experience, and that of many of my friends and family, I agree with you:( cicatrix

Cic, I know we won't change the minds of many who will read this thread. But for the millions who are harmed, even in an indirect way by the porn industry, at least one voice speaking up for them needs to be heard here.

The thread title: New study finds porn to be healthy

It's a study, just a study. I'm sure the NeoNazis have their studies, too.

speaking as one who has enjoyed porn from time to time.. with a chocolate taste. lol..

ok... I used to be very much a prude.. I remember finding playboys and hustler magazines my JW husband would sneak in the house and would throw them away. He never dared ask me where they went either (it meant admitting he had them)..

to no longer being a JW and reavaluating most things in my life... including my view on porn. I have actually enjoyed some porn.. my favorote is the bangboat.com actually.. until not long ago I subscribed to it..........

to me, if you keep it in balance.. If someone gets off more on porn that the real thing.. it's out of balance..

if I am laying in bed horny and taking care of myself because my man is in there watching porn instead of hitting it with me.. that's out of balance..

but I do not think porn, even internet porn is all that bad for everyone.. just depends on what priority you place it with.

So is it purely a matter of taste or is there some moral or ethical difference between the nudes you find to be "lovely" and the ones in Playboy you find "tasteless"?

I'm sure any who suffered the horrors of the Nazi regime would be as disgusted by that comment as I am. A good rule-of-thumb for arguments is that, if all you can do is call someone a Nazi, you've already lost the argument.

Not when you just continue to make unfounded claims, and don't attempt to support them.

But for the millions who are harmed, even in an indirect way by the porn industry, at least one voice speaking up for them needs to be heard here.

How are you speaking up for them? Who exactly is harmed by the existence of Playboy and in what way?

It's a study, just a study. I'm sure the NeoNazis have their studies, too.

    See above.

Excuse me, but where does Gloria call anyone a Nazi here? Go back and read the quote again. I didn't call anyone a Nazi either. You have to use your brain and think a little here.
