My Kingdom Hall wardrobe.....BBBBWWWAAAAAAAHHHHAAAAHHHAAAA!!!!!

I got rid of my "bookbag" pretty quickly, and most of the clothes and shoes too. I had some pretty nice dresses, but I only kept the skirts because I could wear them to work. All of the literature went when I moved and it took me about three days to stop feeling guilty for that! My mum still sends me magazines once in awhile and I feel a slight twinge of guilt whenever I toss them into the recycling. It's been almost 8 years since I left, but boy that guilt hangs on!

Good for you Scully! I still have some of my meeting clothes.. and occasionally I do wear them for work..
Good job. I abandoned most of my books into the community pile of mother's in the main closet. As for the clothes. I just shoved them to the side and put my "everyday clothes" on hangers in the center so with the doors half pulled you dont know they're there. I will simply never collect them. Mom has hope for those black shoes she bought me a week or two before I left as 'interview' shoes but I dont know they always did pinch horribly.
I still have some of my Polyester meeting clothes hanging in the closet to kill any moths trying to make a home. They won't go near dub clothes!!!!
Skully, I am an inveterate pack rat when it comes to clothing, but, when it comes time for me to let these things go, I will. I work in offices so, a nice skirt or dress comes in handy very well. But, you've planted the seeds of reform in my head, and I know without a doubt those clothes will go to a good use!
Great Idea

YAY for you Scully. I have some work clothes that could be mistaken for meeting clothes, but they're not! Cool thing you just did.
Hope none of those clothes make their way to a Value Village to be scooped up by unsuspecting JW women, looking for the bargain of the century.
Can you imagine answering your door one Saturday morning, only to be greeted by two "sisters" wearing your old outfits!
I left most of my meeting clothes behind when I moved out of my parents house. I only took one complete suit with me for job interviews and such. After a couple of years, I out-fattened my meeting clothes (I was always really skinny). Slowly, things started getting disposed of. I always hated my meeting shoes; they were always uncomfortable. I bought myself a couple of comfy dress shoes for whenever I need them, and I avoid wearing ties and dress pants. whenever I need a nice pair of pants, I usually go out and buy a brand new pair of pitch black jeans (which look sharp). Black jeans will always get lots of wear, and I normally don't have to worry about out-fattening them nor never wearing them. Hey, I wore jeans at my wedding!
The last piece of my meeting attire I disposed of was my belt. It was an awesome belt that I ended up wearing whenever I dressed up like a rock star for shows with my band. It went well with my attire. I out-fattened that too.
I believe much of my meeting clothes are still at my parents' house. I also believe there is a suit jacket hanging somewhere with about 100 foil balls from all the gum I used to chew at the meetings. I used to deposit these in the chair piping during the prayer.

My plan is even more diabolical: I am going to donate some of them to the nearest Salvation Army Thrift Store. That way, if the outfits end up on some JW, I'll know that they go shopping at the Sally-Ann!! That's still a big no-no, right??
BTW, a lot of my meeting wardrobe included one-of-a-kind handmade items (back from my seamstress days) that I could pick out of a crowd a hundred miles away.... all I'll have to say is "When did you start shopping at the Salvation Army's Thrift Store?? Are you allowed to do that now??"
