While working as a substitute teacher a 4th grade girl asked if she could pass out some literature to her classmates. When I saw it was religious in nature I told her no. Seeing that it came from WTBS it got me wondering what would compel someone so young to do such a thing, so I searched the net and almost immediately came to this site.

The Watchtower is responsible for me finding this site. They went on and on about being careful on the internet, that I had to see what they were afraid of...

and they are right, they should be very afraid....lol

I was looking online for something for my son. Google pulled this up along with what I was looking for. It caught my eye and I clicked on it.

To use the org's old saying ... The right food at the right time.

After years of being faded, for some strange reason, I did a search on the internet for Jehovahs Witnesses, and this was the first site that came up, so I clicked in. Still dont have a clue why I decided to search for Jehovahs witnesses that day, but am glad that I did.

Before this board came along, "H20" was THE premier JW discussion board. But it was over-moderated and several of the moderators deleted posts at their whim. "Uncle Bruce" found this site and told me and others about it. I checked it out and liked it. I announced my departure from H20 and many, many posters like AlanF, JanH, Norm, Kent, Amazing, JT, dedalus and a whole bunch of others descended on this board like locusts! H20 became a wasteland almost over night.

There was some resentment from the ones who started with this board from the very beginning. We were the debators and researchers. They were the comforters and greeters and had a relaxed "coffee shop" type of board going.

Now there is a pleasant mix of both types of posters, and that is a good thing.

I found it by accident one afternoon when I was bored at work.....

After being out of the JW religion for 20 plus years I was thrilled to find others who were just like me. I had never encountered any other X JWs prior to discovering this site.

It is comforting to know that there are others out there.....

I was already "Inactive" and decided that I did not want to be active again. But we still attendeded some Thursday meetings and I was given a 'Kingdom Ministry'. A while back they produced that memorable special insert about the dangers of the internet. After enduring the painful comments of the computer illitate I was determined to see what it was all about. I had no computer and did not know to access the net . So, I went to the Public Library and had a lesson at the public terminal. When I was on my own I did like everybody else and searched for Watchtower.

Wow! I was both shocked and fascinated . I preferred Freeminds and devoured all I could find on it.. They had a link to this site and I lurked for ages. I had my own internet at home when I registered , and the rest is history

Thank God (literally) for Randy Watters and Simon Green.... and the other site owners, and the brilliant posters who make this board what it is. I take my hat off to you all.

WoW! Farkel said, "That is a good thing. TM " I am telling Martha Stewart.

I started at Channel C. A poster there mentioned the UN scandal, which Channel C wasn't interested in. I came over here to check it out. Immediately I was struck by the energy of the board. I dived right in, which is my style. Please don't look up my newbie posts.

I followed everyone over from H2O. I can remember the discussion about this being a pro-JW site at the time and someone saying "Simon isn't such a bad guy."

    Obviously, they were right.

    jgnat,

Oh, you should never have said "Please don't look up my newbie posts", because you know that is just an invitation to do so.

One of the things that this forum has motivated me to do is to actually look up some of the more serious mistakes that the WTBTS has made and educate myself so that when I read AllenF and Farkels posts, I will know what they are talking about!
