I was looking for proof that Jeruselem did not fall in 607...

Found plenty of info I needed on that, but also came across a thread about it in here. I spent about 4 or 5 days reading posts, then joined. That was 2 days ago.

I had been researching the WT for the first time and had woken up that it was a load of crap (something I should have done 30 years earlier.

It came up in a Google and I have been here ever since. It was like a breath of fresh air. Wonderful to find that I was not alone, although, in saying that, it wasn't so wonderful that so many others had similar, or worse stories than mine.

The day my husband gave me Ray Franz's books to read he told me about this site. Amazing was the first poster I was introduced to.

I have come to this site everyday for the last 2 years.

What a wealth of information there is. This is better than Tim horton's coffee.

I saw a show about the child abuse cover-up scandal-- I think it was called Suffer the Little Children-- and I couldn't get it out of my head. Even though I hadn't been a Witness for several years, I was horrified and in shock for days. The phrase SilentLambs stayed with me and when I finally got access to the internet I searched for it to see if there were any updates. The site was down for some reason and I ended up at the Rick Ross Institute. From there I made my way to freeminds.org and then HERE. I lurked for several days and nights, had a bizarre reaction...loved it so much I kept coming back for more and then vowing never to return because it brought out alot of old insecurities I didn't know I still had. I'm getting over it and am grateful this place (and these people) exists.

I had just been"allowed" <ex-husband} to get the the internet.I was disallusioned, sad, hurt and needed information to keep my daughter from returning to the KH because of her three year old and she didn't want her to be "destroyed" ,Typed in JW... checked some of the sites out.Massive reading ... Liked this one and joined. April,2004.Just a few days after finding the site. The sexual abuse info from other sites, the personal friendships. from this site helped my family (except the ex-hubby) Learn to see the WTS for what we already thought it was anyway another corrupt religion.

I had just ended a relationship with a guy who was a JW and I wanted reinforcement and proof that my gut feeling about the Witnesses was correct-that they were over-controlling and way off center. I first found freeminds, read all of Gary B's stuff and then linked to here. It helped, and helps, me know I made the right decision to get out of that relationship. No good could have come from it.

Beyond that I stay here because I like the people and I find the topics discussed very interesting and informative. Thanks Randy and Simon, and all of you who contribute to the board!

Thanks for all the great replies on this thread. I am getting a lot of ideas from these replies, on how to help my daughter out of the clutches of the org., with your true experiences.

I find that this is a subject that I can really work on to help me.

I am benefitting a great deal from your experiences, and I hope I will get many more responses to this thread, as they are all beneficial to my "quest" of seeing my daughter and her husband eventually out of this destructive cult. They may not be baptised yet, but it doesn't matter because they are totally involved in whatever the w.t, tells them.

    Sincerely.... Hubert
