WHICH BIBLE BOOK has caused the most trouble in the world?

I'd vote for Revelation since every nutcase who ever came down the pike has tackled it verse for verse and applied it to the time in which he was living.

Ever notice that? No matter what decade or century, people reading the Bible always think that it applies to THEIR time.

Which book do YOU think has caused the most problems?

Genesis for two reasons: the creation of the earth, and the reason for it being a huge craphole.

Yup... Revelation by far... Then again, a few books in the OT could have been nicely done away with some time ago, as they are the ones that in general make it sound OK for us to kill people who don't serve God in the way that we think he should be worshipped.

    Terry,

I'd say the book of Daniel, for the exact same reasons you gave for Revelation!

I would nominate Jeremiah because of the continued confusion over the seventy years for Judah as to whether it refers to a period of desolation of the land or servitude to Babylon and the related chronology.

If I were allowed two books, I'd say Joshua and Acts for basically the same motive: they provide a legendary link between myth (Moses / Jesus) and history (Israel / the Church). Spoiling both.

Absolutely Revelation (otherwise known as "John Hits Acid on Patmos")

I tend to agree with Revelation, it has fueled all the "end of times" nuts since it was written.

I would nominate Jeremiah because of the continued confusion over the seventy years for Judah as to whether it refers to a period of desolation of the land or servitude to Babylon and the related chronology.

Maybe for the WTS's or YOUR world...., it can be "most troubling" to have to keep lying to yourself every day. Yes, Jeremiah has caused much trouble for the WTS, but the WORLD? Don't think so.

    Scholar,

You must be entertaining at parties!

Pretty blonde: "Hi, my name's Erica, what's yours?"

Scholar: "I'm Scholar, BA, MA, Studies in Religion. What do you think about the seventy years of Jeremiah?"

    Pretty blonde: "zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz"

I also go with Revelations. That book is the back bone to far out translations by many dangerous cults.
