The highest and lowest month have a difference of about 50,000 .... that is 5% of their membership who is so borderline that they do not report regularly for whatever reason.

Of course, many of the 'regular reports' will be bogus by people who just go through the motions.

Quite pitiful for what is supposedly Gods chosen people with a vitally life saving message isn't it

I agree with jws, with just 5,000 increase and 309,000 baptised we assume that at least 25,000 left either through death or walking!! Hallelujah!

Very, very interesting thread. Happy day!

I just noticed that there does not seem to be a correlation between pioneers and baptisms. At first glance I thought there might even be a negative correlation because of a few months where pioneers went up and baptisms went down as well as the converse of this. Realistically though the some of the changes were too small to consider significant. As well the disproportional month of July where alot of people wait to get baptized at annual conventions. When these factors are considered, It appears more like no correlation at all is the case.

I find that unusual. I would think that there would, if anything, be a positive correlation between these two activities.

Is that typical? I have not looked at previous years stats to check this but it would seem a logical conclusion. Is it possible that these sats are incorrect?

0.46% increase. That's about half the rate of increase in the general popuation. The hundreds of millions of hours a year they spend preaching are less than useless. They should just give up preaching and concentrate on breeding.

Actually, Mormons add members on three fronts

    1) Having as many children as possible to allow the spirits in heaven their opportunity to be tested on earth

    2) 2 year full-time preaching program for their sons (and now daughters)

    3) Baptzing dead relatives into the fold

That is interesting to think that they don't even keep up with the birth rate. How will they reach all the people on earth with the kingdom message? How can they have a clear conscience when they are all slaughtered at the Big A?

Witnesses shouldn't baptize for the dead like Mormons.

Dead people are notorious for poor meeting attendance.

As to peaks, they had a big one back around 2000 of 1,100,000.

    LOL @ FunkyDerek

My thoughts exactly. I guess they'll stop including the field service hours figure when it turns out that having spent a billion hours the 6m+ JWs only managed to make one or two converts (in statistical terms of course, but still...).

Knowing them they will probly conclude that this is the love of the greater number cooling off with the corruption of the WTBTS being as it is . The facts show that they are the evil slave and have been exploiting people . The information access to the web is definately having an effect as I can see sites like this one being so popular . The WTBTS does need to show some humilty and repent in front of all congregants. I think Ted Jaracz should be removed from leadership and some serious re- tooling of church doctrines be initiated . There is no need for the seventh angel to blow his trumpet just yet as some have proposed will happen on this thread .IMO

I recently heard from my sister that at the KH she went to they were now putting up lists on the board at the back of the hall with regard to a) publisher's name b)group study assigned to and c) whether active or inactive publisher.

Could this be to shame some brothers into putting their reports in or even putting in hours in the first place?

Nice work, truthseeker. For some reason, I never realized that most interesting parts of the report could be derived from the national KM figures.
