We had a thread not too long ago that made the point that every time dogs are mentioned in the Bible (and they are mentioned a lot compared to "birthdays"), they are characterized in rather negative terms. So does that mean that dogs are evil or it is wrong to own and care for one?
is there any concrete proof the JWs are wrong? Iam new here.

The better question is whether there is any "concrete" proof that they are right. Given their past history of false prophecy, "new light" to explain errors and inconsistencies away, failure to disclose the financial results of their corporate operations to their "flock," and foolishly inconsistent policies on blood that have likely cost many their lives, the burden is on them to prove the truth of their claims. Asking whether there is proof they are wrong is like asking whether there is proof that pink unicorns do not exist.

Welcome Buck! You've found the right place to uncover the WTS wrong teachings. I've been gone since 1999 after being a JW for almost 30 years. Back then I found another website also particulary helpful.
Feel free to ask anything you want......and as you "get into" all the false beliefs, you could share them with your girlfriend. Helping HER to realize that the WTS is knowingly filled with lies and weasel-words will spare her from a lifetime of pure committment to serving a publishing company based in Brooklyn NY.
The WTS has no interest in "serving God" as they claim, but is desgned totally to promote their literature, and make converts who will do the same.

OK, I guess I can tell a little more of my story since I dont know any of you personally.....I hope. One of her family members is a elder. There family is really cool to me and always has been. Will this change at some point if I pursue marriage without being baptised? Would you choose love over religion? I have many questions, but not answers.
Anyone else fall in love with JW, have them return that love.....but have religion stand in the way of longterm happiness?

Welcome to the forum Buck...Go look at Luke 9:49 and tell me if JWs act that way to other christian groups or their individual members. Besides that you ever see JWs doing charity work? Faith without works and all that..

Buck - I feel so sorry for you being in love with a JW. Her elder father is "love bombing" you. Its a recruitment technique - they don't call it that - but that's what it is and it is a common practice in cult indoctrination. Try asking him about all their failed armageddon dates, about the evolving blood doctine, and other things you will learn about - and see how nice he is to you. Ask him about the Silent Lambs web site - a web site for people who have been sexually abused by JW's.
But the main thing I think you should consider is that if you marry this JW and have children - and lets say one of your children ever were to need a blood transfusion - your wife will fight you to keep the child from having it and will let your child die.
Can you imagine never having Christmas with your children?
If your children are raised JW they will suffer armageddon phobias and will be told that you will be killed at armageddon. If they grow up and leave the cult - then your wife and her nice and loving family will shun them.
Buck - these are only a FEW things you need to know about. There is a lot more. Please, please please keep reading. Read everything you can before you make any decisions. Also be careful that they don't brainwash you. Sometimes people get sucked in when they never meant to - its already starting to happen to you if you think they answer all of your questions. They have a book that they are trained from and are well equipped to defuse any question you might have.
Check out the UN issue and ask Mr. Elder about it. He tell you something crazy like Satan is using the UN to lie about the JW's - even if you show him the web page - he won't address it - he'll dismiss you and it.
You should also know they have changed things in their NWT bible to make it fit their doctines. But they say other churches do that. You can prove it using their own Kingdom Interlinear. Ask them what the qualifications of the translation committee were - they will tell you its "anonymous". The truth is that Fred Franz took a few classes in Greek and decided to rewrite the bible.
