yeah, i knew at least two... they were not even twenty years old. one had really huge psychical problems and one probably was sick of having to live a double life.

yikes - "the result of a botched elder visit" - ?

seems like a misuse of language more than likely - the elder's visit did not actually cause the attempt, did it?

perhaps the visit was the trigger or one of many - but the actual cause?

I've met Sabine and her husband and heard the story from them, and yes, I think the wording above is accurate.

yeah I know of several and was pretty close to one of them and it came close to doing me in, too. probably best if I just left it at that.

If there is such a thing as genetically predispossed to suicide (how would darwin explain that) I know a case. At age 35 two generarions the family would ritualistically commit suicide. THe father commiteed suicide at 35, then when the mother turned 35 she commited sucide over the death of her husband, the son had a family with are pretty young seductress JW who seemed to like to dance horizontaly when he wasn't around. So on video he explained this whole complicated mess while he slit his wrist at age 35.

I know another "suicide" in the family, but it was confessed to be murder. From what I understand the police are not interested in re-opening the case.

I personally knew six dubs who suicided, and possibly at least double that amount from reports by others.

To a former jdub I once posed a similar question to this topic. His reply was, "Yes, I knew a few, but never enough". No wonder apostates are of such poor renown amongst the dear brothers.

Myself, twice. I would say thank god I never succeeded, but it would be more accurate to thank doc. Thankfully that was some time ago and my life has improved drastically.

RHCP, please know that what you said about things getting better is so, so true: they will. Please don't give up and please remember that we are all here with open arms to catch you next time you feel you're going to fall.

    Much love, Kitties

    Yes.

One friend of mine attempted suicide when he was a teenager. The elders held a JC session right in his hospital room... he was not df'd though (he was df'd much later, and he's all right).

A well-known elder's wife who happened to be a relative of mine committed suicide about 3 years ago, after several attempts. She hung herself, and her children and grandchildren found her dead. I only heard about it much later (I was not in touch with any of them, shunning and time...), when this elder was conducting my own father's funeral.

Yes, I remember two people. The first was a sister who had been publicly reproved for criticising an elder. In her suicide not she blamed her suicide on the depression caused by the elders picking on her and reproving her. The second was a brother who killed himself also after being reproved publicly.
