Well yes, as in the animal kingdom, so in the kingdom of man, there is a pecking order. There are rewards for finding ones place in it and playing the game by cooperating w those above and maximising our use of others. It would appear that the way the bible portrays jesus, he did not fit into this structure. I do agree that many things he is described as doing and saying are inspirational - spiritual.

The title of the thread sounded political. The first post seems to limit this general question to the religious sphere. Sticking to the latter, I find the Johannine line of thought particularly interesting in the N.T., as stressing one's spiritual experience as the only and sufficient basis for belief and life:

As for you, the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and so you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, abide in him. (1 John 2:27)

The same idea, I think, is remarkably expressed in the story of the blind man (John 9) who defies religious leaders and their knowledge on the basis of his unique though limited experience: "I do not know whether he is a sinner. One thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see."

Now this might have interesting political applications too...

    ko,

Even when I attended church I would not look to it as a "source of salvation". But now I'm out of church -- and saved from salvation too (I guess).

It's interesting to observe the similar patterns followed by such churches:

Now maybe you can see it this way :

Have we seen "any" results thus far of God(S) rulling upon man ??? (towards or without men ???)

**"Do not put your trust in nobles, Nor in the sons of earthling man, to whom no salvation belongs, his spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground; in that day his thoughts do perish." Ps. 146:3,4.

Isn't it ironic that SO many scriptures point to the WTS, but they seem to wiggle around their meaning? The WTS is no doubt "ruling over men" even taking responsibility for the JWs salvation by obedience to them! (Of course they don't admit this)

    So----no, it isn't right!
