Dansk says 'I used to start my time from knocking on my first door or speaking to my first person in the street. I learnt later that some were counting their time from leaving their cars - even though they hadn't spoken to anyone!'

(I don't know how to copy in a yellow box comments from other people )

Yeah some JW do stretch the truth with counting time. Our congregation used to do country witnessing a reasonable amount. The furtherest area was about 2 hrs by car. After the group a lot would do a return visit or a not at home in town, then they could start counting their time, then they would drive an hour or two to the territory. And of course when they drove back to town they'd finish with an RV or not at home too Country days were great! Actual preaching time only amounted to probably an hour for the day but with all the travelling you could count 6 hours heh heh

You are not doing the math right. To say that "only 19 countries" make up most of the publishers and activity is correct, but what you fail to mention is that the top 19 countries of the world also make up most of population of the planet-- China, India, USA, Indonesia, Brazil, Pakistan, Russia, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Japan, Mexico, Philippines, Germany, Vietnam, Egypt, Iran, Turkey, Ethiopia, and Thailand.

Also the missing number of publishers should also be lower since they have a higher death rate because they don't count children..

Many other religions have a much worse retention rate like the Southern Baptists and the LDS.

Inactive JWs are not counted. They attend the Memorial showing they are not totally out. However other churches count their members if they only show up once for service during the year.

    the turnover is surprisingly low

Actually, no it's not. We're not talking about a business here (or are we?). Compare this turnover rate to any major religion. You will find the turnover rate to be much lower. JWs and other hard line fundamentalists have a very high turnover rate, relative to more stable religions.

Been out 2880 days... That's awesome.

I faded for a while, quit going out in "service" but went to occasional meetings. Quit meetings altogether in Jan '97. It was such a relief. I remember feeling just totaly relief. No guilt at all.

You have been out of the bOrg for 5490 days.

    Cool!

    Inactive JWs are not counted.

Yes they are. My wife was credited with 4 hours (and a bible study) for at least a year (she may still be counted for all I know) even though she stopped attending meetings and going out in service in May 2002.

If it's happened once, it's happened elsewhere. WTS' numbers are not reliable.
